Senior Mens National Cross Country Championships 1997

Lovely to see this. I was running and picked myself out among the hordes of club athletes participating. This is such a great event to take part in and have run in so many National CC Champs, the first as a youth at Leicester.in 1964 and the last at Birmingham in 2005. From Havant to Newcastle I have run on many great National courses over the years, and this was memorable for being a bit of a "mud bath", but nothing like as bad as Parliament Hill in 1981. I am old now, but look back on these races with great nostalgia and glad that I was able to rack up 50 years of competitive running.....Only wish I could still do it!!

What a great course that was. Held in Havant for the one and only time. I was there.
