Excellent job Phil in describing how a PGA Pro's son helped to transform your golf swing! Most of my golfing life, I have had a fast rhythm in my golf swing. Now, that I'm a super senior, this doesn't work any longer. So, your tip today will be very useful to me in transforming my golf swing! Thank You Phil! Well Done Sir!

Thank you for an interesting video. You can drive 280 yards & still trying to improve. I AM IN THE REAL WORLD WITH AN AVERAGE DRIVE OF 150 YARDS. I would be delighted to have your drive & I would not bother about trying to improve it. I regard myself to be fortunate to be still playing golf at the age of 81 years. Renewed thanks for all your help. The Easiest Swing allows oldies like me to continue playing. I am very grateful to you & your brother for changing the way normal, average golfers should try & play golf.

I have just finished reading your excellent book, ''The Easiest Swing In Golf ' ' on 1/8/2024. Your brother, Brian, would have been delighted with the great advice & updating of the easiest swing. I expected to make a few pages of practical suggestions to improve my game. I was surprised to complete 20 sides of handwritten notes on vital teaching suggestions. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS NOW MAKE SURE I FOLLOW ALL OF YOUR ADVICE. As a retired teacher I have summarised many books , but your book will give average golfers numerous, practical & easy to follow ways to get better. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK WHICH I REALLY APPRECIATE. I THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THE BOOK. IT NEEDS TO BE READ SLOWLY TO ASSIMILATE A LOT OF IDEAS. Alan Goudie age 81 years.

Hi Philip, loving your content. I'm 73 but physically ok, playing off 14 and want to come down further (to 9.9 if poss). I swing too fast sometimes and don't transfer weight well. It's so difficult to easy swing when you've spent years over swinging. I'll stick at it though with the help of your videos. Dave, S Yorkshire

For the slower swings, I use Annika Sorenstam's driver swing thought, "Swing 60%". I think about having "nice, soft hands" to feel the club head weight, with a golf hold (grip) of 2-3 on a scale of 10!
@Easiestswing5 ай бұрын
Great thoughts Thomas 👍
@Kylez12125 ай бұрын
Do you notice a big drop in distance? Clearly accuracy will improve but are you hitting it like 20-30 yards shorter swinging it around 60%?
@thomasesparza91755 ай бұрын
@@Kylez1212 No, actually my strikes were more solid and longer....and better yet, more often in the fairway! The "soft hands", 2-3 on a scale of 10 increases your club head speed. I don't really know if I'm actually swinging 60% of my potential speed, but it smooths my transition by "thinking" 60% in my mind! The other thing I practice is finishing my swing in balance. During my practice swing, I concentrate on my finish being in balance and holding it...then I execute my actual swing, not thinking about hitting the ball, just the finish!

Interesting concept, slowing down the lower half. My image is of walking speed, where the legs set the pace of the swing and the arms then swing in unison.

I happen to see a video a few years ago, where someone had another tip that could work here. So to help with the timing, he suggested to take your driver to the range. Find the 100 yard flag, and practice just hitting it 100 yards. This slows everything down. Then when you’re ready, move out to 125 and so on. It may takes a few weeks, once a week at the driving range to finally get to a speed you can hit well enough but dead straight. So these two tips could work together. Yours and his.

Agreed, I’ve done this but just used 150 yds. I feel the tempo and swing is great. But I never turned it into a foundation drill and never take it to the course

Great advice I will pass this one onto all our coaches to try - thanks. Watch out there may be a video on this in due course!
@rayray82123 ай бұрын
Exactly what I have been struggling with that has a tendency to bring me over the top as my quick lower body brings my upper body around and out creating a slight outside in swing path. Even though I can play a decent game with that action because I know what's happening, I get frustrated because I have a heck of a time turning the ball right to left (I'm right handed), when I really need a shape like that. I will definitely work on slowing the lower body down because I think this may be my key to swinging under the top instead of over you might say. Thanks..😊
@Easiestswing3 ай бұрын
I’m glad this sounds like it is going to help you. Interestingly since we filmed this video I have been working on the feeling that my arms are made of soft rubber. This helps me to slow the lower body in response to that image.

So funny you should ask, as last time we were filming on this hole, I hit a couple of drives we measured out at 292 & 295 (yards) this time I was about 10-20 yards past that point with both those drives. We had to wait while we were filming as the home pro was coaching a junior who was giving the ball a big thrash and was obviously a low handicap player who fancied himself. He looked surprised that my drives were the same distance as his but mine were fairly effortless by comparison!!

Here is the honest answer - I don’t know! I started doing it about 30+ or 40 years ago and can’t even remember doing it deliberately, but now I can’t imagine trying to start the swing from a static position. My first move always feels very easy whilst I know some struggle with it. I don’t think there is a right or wrong here, but I’d suggest giving it a go if you’re interested and see how you get on. Oh and you might like this too - when putting I support about 90% of the weight of the putter and only allow enough contact with the grass to stop the club head from moving around. It also seems to make the first move more fluid.
@jawjuh10056 ай бұрын
This brings up a question. Maybe if the author doesn’t answer one of you can? I have seen The Easiest Swing as a body turn in both directions with the arms following. This video makes me wonder if it’s the opposite. Arms moving and body follows. Thank you.
@Easiestswing6 ай бұрын
Perhaps the way to envisage this is to consider the simplest way for the club to swing as it is designed to work and then allow the arms and body to connect with that swing without interference. So in this respect both arms and body are working together. If you remain as tension free as possible the weight of the club head creates the proper sequence.
@jawjuh10056 ай бұрын
@@Easiestswing Thank you. I just didn’t envision holding anything back during the swing. I turn turn. Like the dance du golf. I try to keep the whole arm club unit as relaxed as possible and let it go where it goes without manipulation on my part. To get more distance I might increase the speed of the turn slightly. Is that correct?
@robinc33076 ай бұрын
I asked Brian this question...what starts the swing...arm/ hands or body....all Brian said was that's the million dollar question..😂😂 I took it he meant it my be arms for me ....body for someone else

I find a relaxed grip, with little pressure, as you advise, is really helpful to keep my swing easy yet reasonably powerful. I wonder if this relaxed feeling should also be in the knees/legs? There are videos of Seve practising at Wentworth in his younger days, and his swing is easy and relaxed, yet he hits the ball beautifully: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4WXoGqZj9ONbtUsi=siy-zpEPWMRQLgRD

I have the same problem. Just a timing issue. Lower body not in sync with hands and arms. There’s nothing particularly technical for me, just try to focus on my tempo.
@Easiestswing6 ай бұрын
I find I hook when I get tight through impact if I can stay as loose as a goose through there the ball goes straight. Of course your hook may not be the same thing but give that a go and see what happens. Another quick fix is to have a practice where you deliberately slice the ball to feel what needs to change to make this possible.

One wouldn’t need complicated instructions on how to throw your golf club over-hand or under-hand with both hands at a target in front of you. So just ignore that there is a ball on the ground and pretend you are throwing your club at a target ahead of you - and just don’t let go of the club. Forget all this release, extension, turning, pivoting, weight shifting nonsense.
