Senior Telemaster Maiden Flight

First, I renamed it the HelioMaster as the Senior Telemaster lends itself well in design as to that of a Helio Courier STOL. I reshaped the vertical stab and rudder to resemble the Helio and added Fowler flaps. The flaps slow it down at half or full. No pitch up.
Wingspan 96 inches and for power a Saito .91 four-stroke engine. Heavy 5.5" Tundra tires (rubber) and fiberglass gear helps with CG. Flies great with the .91 propped with a 13X6.
Tail assembly is removable for easy transport. Tailwheel kept separate with pull-pull cables to a servo. Eight servos total. I built this from a Hobby Lobby kit.
A small Mobius camera is used for my hatcam.
Maiden flight was at Western Flyers club field located 15 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska.

I just love how your Sr. Telemaster just floats off the grass and floats into the landing. I have one, which is yellow in colour. I just love how it is such an easy airplane to fly. Thanks for sharing your flights. Fort McMurray, AB Canada

Thank you! Yes, the Telemaster is a fun airplane to fly. I have found that the flaps I added are effective at "braking" when dropping in on the runway for a landing. Otherwise it will take up most of the runway floating before settling down. I like to fly it in just above stall speed. Thanks again!

Really nice! I flew the 6 foot span version back in the early to mid 80's. We could get Telemaster kits in Britain back then, but nobody brings then in anymore. The only way we are able to build one now is from downloading the plan from Outerzone for free, which is what I did quite recently when I decided to build another! My first one was one of the nicest models I ever owned.

Nice "old school" model with a bit of advanced aero thrown in. Real aeromodelling then! And a hell of a flying field. Is that owned by just a Model Club???? Or is it shared with full-size?

Thanks! Our Western RC Flyers club of 45 are fortunate to have this flying field since the 1990s. It is located 15 miles west of Omaha on state property. They have allowed us to have this ground for our RC flying activity. We maintain it.

@@J3Flyah We have a hilltop in Wales Nelson, but it's not bad, especially if you like a bit of wind - and we can see 35 miles (down) to the North Wales coast. Has the advantage that, even if you fly down to take-off height you have sky in the background. We have about 55 members (Wrexham Model Aircraft Club). Been subscribed to your channel for ages.
