The average consumer might like the sound you never know that way they can hear what I hear all the time the actual sound of music not colored.

I got a pair of these yesterday. I love them. I think they sound spot on. I love how tight the bass response is and love how balanced they sound. They're totally amazing and a bargain for what they sell for.

The 280's are excellent for the price, I've recommended them many times. I upgraded to the Focal Spirit headphones, which come in around $350 US. The Focals sound better of course, but here is the interesting bit. In my DAW I use the Sonarworks headphone calibration plugin. It loads a profile for whichever headphones you are using to create the flattest response possible. Using that plugin, the Focals and the 280's sound nearly identical, with the main difference of the Focals being more crisp and detailed. Frequency-wise, they are both equally flat. So, for about $400 for the Focals and the plugin, and $150 for Sennheisers and the plugin, a remarkable opportunity appears.

for the $100 headphone class these are at the top. The AT ATH-M40x are great too, but they have more low-end, which some people like.

People are always saying that flat headphones aren't going to be good for listening to music, but if you hearing what the producer wanted you to hear wouldn't they be the best for listing to music?
@elfs314 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts! More so, that I even ordered them as a consumer for music listening and watching stuff online. It will arrive in couple days, let's see how they compare to HyperX cloud Alpha

@@elfs31 Did they arrive? How are they for just listening?
@elfs314 жыл бұрын
@@Gulbis They did. You can hear every instrument very clearly and for editing it would be one of the best headphones out there. But talking about consumer listening, it took a while to adapt to them and yet, you learn that most of your favorite songs are poorly made, these headphones just gives it away.. for that case I use equalizer software to soften that difference. But for the price there are great with additional eq software, tho I haven't tried a more expensive ones, all I can compare them to is HyperX alpha which is purely for gaming and HD 280 is better than them.

If you're a basshead, you won't like these without an EQ, but if you really do want to hear exactly how it SHOULD sound, these are a great choice. I personally like them most of the time, although some of my songs do appreciate a bass boost just so I don't kill my ears with the volume lol cause they do get EXTREMELY loud.

I've got a set of 280 Pros for listening to music as you say, got em in 2003. I dislike bass heavy 'coloured' sound. Go get some Beats if that's your thing. These give it to you straight.

You say they aren’t good for listening to music, but that is what I’m using them for, I used an eq from oratory1990 specifically the octave band eq and they sound wonderful for listening to music, the bass is a bit tighter and the mids and highs are much less dark, not really the ideal headphones for listening to music, but to my ears they sound much better than most consumer grade headphones that cost a lot more. I use them with a fiio btr7 Bluetooth dac amp

not the best for giving you that beautiful sound when tracking vocals but is very balanced and one of the best for mixing and mastering without changing the overall sound and keeping it true to the source as possible.

These headphones are great for checking your audio for problems. They don't sound amazing, they sound accurate. You will always want to check your mix on studio monitors.

Yes. As a Voiceover Artist and AudioBook/Demo producer, these are my go-to headphones. Their clean, flat response and great isolation properties make them excellent value for money. Whilst these are infinitely better than sub $50 pairs, when you go much higher in price, the audible quality gain is minor, compared to the major cost increase.

@Savagegangent4 жыл бұрын
It means that they don't put anything special on the EQ and you hear the actual true sound of what the audio really is so they are great for someone who is mixing music and recording but they're not meant for listening to the final product because you would want something to enhance that sound basically if they sound good when you mix them with these you know they're going to sound great on a pair of that is meant for consumers
@freesaxon68354 жыл бұрын
@@Savagegangent ah I see 👍🏻👌🏻 sort of raw material
@Savagegangent4 жыл бұрын
Exactly it picks up the true frequencies for what the music really is so it's perfect for when you're mixing it because you know when you're mixing it on that if you get it sounding great then it's going to sound really great on headphones that are really meant for listening on the consumer end like Bose or something like that
@PerpetuusTenebris3 жыл бұрын
Most people like a bit more bass and a bit more high-end in their sound cause it sounds more "excited" which is why a good amount of people don't like the ultra-flat response these give.

Just bought and received a pair of these and all I get when I plug it into my interface to my laptop it gets major interference from the sound system in my living room. And if I hook it up to my Amp it's too quiet and muddy. Even my cheap Scarlett headphones sounded better than this. Maybe I'm not using them right or something but geez first time plug in these are the worst sounding headphones I've ever put on my head. Somebody please help.
@BenoniStudio Жыл бұрын
That doesn't sound right. Maybe you got a bad one and you can return them for a new pair.
@Vector-X777 Жыл бұрын
@BenoniStudio thanks. I finally figured it out. I read the manual and learned that there is a powerful magnet in the headphones that can cause interference with other electronics. So it says you have to make sure they are powered to the correct input/output. A few adjustments on my interface and they work properly now. I love them. Thanks.

Trying to decide between these and the AT ATH-M50x. I'll be using them strictly for podcasting and doing all the post and mixing on my Beyerdynamic DT 770 PROs. Most curious about the comfort between the two, but would obviously like to know the difference in sound quality as well. Thanks in advance.
@BenoniStudio5 жыл бұрын
Either are fine for podcasting. I like the HD280s because it reveals a lot in the top end that you don't hear through monitors. The M50x probably have a bit more low end thump. They are both great and either will work for podcasting.
