I know i am late, can you please tell me how to drive these perfectly with a macbook pro which comes with high impedance headphone jack. I want to make it as simple as possible, what are all the extra products i need to buy? ( Macbook comes in a 3.5mm jack - 150 ohms with 1.25 volts RMS ) And big thank you for this wonderful video

Your sound stage example was the the reasoning why I bought the 800 after owning the 800s. And honestly after owning both for half a year, i apologize but I have to call bullshit on your soundstage comment, they are the same in that regard. Also the 800 has a bit more volume on the bass region that the 800s, believe ot or not. Lastly the 800s can be still sibilant just as the 800 in certain songs but but sure is an improvement.

So LCD-2C is more of an upgrade for the 660s/6XX as opposed to the 600. The HD800s are WAY brighter and will probably require EQ if you're upgrading from the hd6xx line like me lol. HOWEVER, I feel there might be better options at the price point of the 2C. LCD-2 used prices are great though. TL:DR: For detail and brightness, HD800S w/EQ. For musicality and coloration, LCD-2. Also WAY different price points so...

For sound quality, nah not really. Do it for the comfort, length, and different types of connectors. For example, if you're already looking to buy a BAL cable, you may as well go the full nine yards and get a custom one.

Sennheiser removed the XLR balanced cable on the 800s. You can now buy this for like €300, what a rip off. Bought mine like 1 week ago...

They are the same honestly, I own them both. At least for sure they don't sound like the sound is being spread in a circle or square like represented here.

A somewhat helpful addition to the validity of your review Mr Chuck may have been to enlighten us as to what equipment this comparison was made from. consequently I am still unsure. headphones much like loudspeakers are merely the last link in a chain.

Excellent review. Like and new sub. Must say I cannot agree more about the cables. They are absolute trash and a nightmare to use. I threw them in a bin somewhere in storage and purchased aftermarket ones. They become far more comfortable without those heavy lamp cords ripping the headphones off your head. I also found these to perform vastly different between amplifiers. I am fortunate in my friends and tried my 800S on a variety of them. I did eventually settle on the S version but I have tried both and do mostly agree with your assessment.
