Try the Beyerdynamic T1 2nd edition. You can get a new pair for $650. Well worth the money.

Do the HD820 sound better then the HD 650? And which of the two (820 or Z1R) isolate better against noisy neighbors?

Better? I guess in many ways yes but I think it comes down to preferences. I no longer own HD820 but do still own HD650. HD820 is closed back so isolates much better.

@@techjourney5383 That's interesting, I have never had a good experience with closed back headphones before in comparison to good open-backs like the HD650. What made you get rid of the HD820 again and which headphones do you prefer currently - still the HD 600?

My dude, with those great headphones & great DACS - you NEED to get a better headphone amplifier than Schiit Jotenheims... You want to hear those Sony’s how they can really sound? Use it with the TAZH1ES.. They sound different and are sensitive headphones.. I bet the treble sounds meh out of the Jot...I’m not surprised you’re saying the Bass gets annoying out of the Jotenheim because it’s not a great amp and the Sony’s wont be as controlled and smooth and 3 dimensional as they can be. I’ve owned and sold the 800S as well which I wouldn’t use with the Jotenheim either.

Hey Brian, thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree that I definitely need to get a better headphone amp when budget permits. At around $2k for the other amp you recommended it looks like I’ll need to save my pennies for a bit longer as I have other projects and toys that will take priority for now😊 thanks again!
