All this time, I just assumed Rapi had volunteered to become a Nikke like most did... But for her to be forced into it after being killed by those very same people?!?! And barely having lived life before that? We just started, and already I'm heated! T_T

Based on relics, bonds, and side stories, IMO all women get turned into nikkes. With or without consent. Makes sense that in a post-apocalyptic war service is mandatory. Central Government doesn't say it outright so people don't panic.

*1.* I have to say, I love Anis' (눈ヘ눈) face. *2. (Voice actors)* Seira, Squad Leader, Lightheaded Mass-Produced Nikke, Noisy Mass-Produced Nikke - all TBA. *3. (**43:21**)* Props to the translators for bothering to put in the "œ" character. *4. (Involuntary Nikkes)* So let me get this straight: they take unclaimed corpses and turn them into Nikkes to fight in their war with zero concern for silly concepts like "consent" and "permission". That's just sounds like slavery with extra steps. *(QotD)* I initially wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he actually cared about her, but his care for her - or, more accurately, his complete lack thereof - is completely inexcusable. Just chuck her out into the world to care for herself when it's abundantly clear that she has no knowledge of how the world works, essentially zero social skills, no education, no contacts, no way to get a job to make sure her money doesn't run out, no knowledge of how money works in the first place, hell, not even a pair of goddamn _shoes._ Even if she hadn't been killed during the demonstration, she most likely wouldn't have lasted long anyway, having no home and no knowledge of how to acquire food and water. Looking back, it wouldn't surprise me for a second if the only reason he told her about the procedure that would provide additional grants to the hospital in the first place was because he cared about how it would benefit _him,_ and he didn't actually care about her at all. Yeah, there was no guarantee that she would agree, but hey, worth a shot, right?

1. *(Involuntary Nikkes)* I've run into this concept of involuntary combat cyborgs before not merely once but twice. This sort of concept of has been explored a bit in the lore of the _Marathon_ franchise, although there's a lot more at play in that case that sort of complicates a 1-to-1 comparison (but does come across as oddly similar in a few spots, up to and including Chapter 34). The second instance that comes to mind originates from an ongoing sci-fi analog horror series known as _Midwest Angelica_ and cyborgs simply known as "Deathbringers." The distinction in that case lies in their apparently _deliberate_ surrender of self-control, due to the specific nature of the threat they were made to fight. With the knowledge of what happened with Red Hood and the contents of Chapter 34, Rapi being thrust into the role of a Nikke as suddenly as she was almost puts her on a rather concerning collision course with the ultimate outcome of either of the two comparisons. For your purposes, depending on how the story develops moving forward, I would expect things to start getting quite a bit more complicated moving forward. QOTD: The doctor utterly failed to complete their due diligence in ensuring their patient was suitable for living outside the confines of the hospital. The fact Rapi couldn't even read or understand how to utilize the funds the hospital was providing to her is an extremely short-sighted error on the part of the whole hospital and especially the doctor. Considering he gave Rapi an experimental treatment, one which she was the only one it worked on, for the sake of keeping the hospital operating and eventually becoming director of a new facility is also extremely unethical and corrupt beyond reproach.
