i think it depends on the purpose of your track, i feel like a lot of riddim tracks are literally made just for chops n stuff when djing which is why so many are boring on their own. Totally agree on the variation thing though for standalone tracks, this type of variation is great for basically all types of dubstep

@@thatrealmeal Valid take for sure, but if its sole purpose is to be a Chop or DJ tool, then it doesn’t really stand alone as a good song. I guess it depends what’s surrounding it ,like the intro and breakdowns, but then the drop would be the most boring part in comparison.
