I had the privilege of watching Senri live last week while I was on holiday in Japan. Extremely tasteful player. Everything she does compliments the music perfectly (never overplays). She is very young in this video.

Senri’s dynamics are the thing I most consistently hear her praised for, especially by other drummers.

My favourite drummer playing one of my favourite tracks off of my favourite solo album of her. I absolutely love this whole show, all 3 of them are on top of their game. Also as others have mentioned Senri Kawaguchi is the drummer The Jazz Avengers (and they call her the "leader" of the group because it was originally started as a one-off thing for I believe an opening of a building as the Senri's Seven). She was voted in the Top 500 drummers list of drummerworld when she was 13 and was the youngest before Yoyoka (and other great Japanese drummer) was voted in there at age 11 (I believe). So while she is 28 now, she is basically a seasoned jazz player, playing mainly more fusion type of stuff, but she has also performed with 20+ people as well.

Did you realize Senri here is the drummer and leader of the Jazz Avengers

Senri performs nearly daily with different artists. A true session player who reads music brilliantly.

I did tell him in my request, but DH has a tendency to forget these things. I suppose with 60 reactions a month it’s hard to keep track.

Three jazz greats Philippe Saisse on keyboards Armand Sabal-Lecco on bass And last but definetly not least Senri Kawaguchi (tekazuhime - "Princess of Many Strokes") on drums who you have already seen with the Jazz Avengers (funny you mentioned them :) ) I could probably go on about her achivements for hours but her playing speaks for itself and one of my main reasons for her being my all time favorite drummer, despite having an actual world class drummer (Stevie Wonder, Sting, Cher, Tom Jones, Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow) as a first tutor and personal friend, is the same that you mentioned in your review (and during the song), her ability to adjust her dynamics to anything the band/solo/song needs.
