It’s the song that made me a life long fan of linda. I used to fall asleep with a transistor radio under my pillow catching linda, the mammas and the papas, Donovan, etc in the mid and late 1960’s. I got that radio for my tenth birth anniversary!!

The look on your face while watching Linda sing... you're smitten. 😉 Seriously, she could sing literally any genre. You should give a listen to some of the traditional Pop standards on her "What's New" album. Its amazing how she can switch gears from Rock to Country to Spanish/Mariachi to Pop Standards. One of the best voices of our time without a doubt. I watched a fairly recent interview a news program did with her discussing her new book and neurological condition that took her singing ability away and it just broke my heart.

When Linda told record executives she wanted to record an album of Mexican music they thought she was crazy. Oh how wrong they were. This album, the first of three albums she recorded in Spanish, became the biggest selling non-English language album in American record history, a distinction she still holds.

Linda released the album Canciones de Mi Padre (Songs of my Father) in 1987 to honor her Mexican heritage. The album immediately became a global smash hit. At 2½ million US sales, it stands as the biggest selling non-English language album in American record history. Linda is unparalleled, she sampled many music genres and was a smashing success in all of them.

If you enjoyed this, then you really MUST find a video of her singing "La Charreada". You've just heard her warming up. La Charreada will blow your mind. These songs are from her album "Canciones de Mi Padre", and album she recorded to honor her father and her Mexican heritage. She was fearless in approaching new genres. Nowhere will you hear a better example of the incredible power and control in her voice than in her interpretation of "La Charreada". Enjoy.

Linda was immersed in Spanish having grown up in Tuscon Arizona. As a Mexican-American, she considered Spanish the language of song and English the language of speech. Canciones de mi Padre were her father's songs and they speak prominently of the Mariachi music of Jalisco. A discerning ear will note that flavor permeating many of her songs. My Mexican-American wife could detect that quality and had her pegged as Hispanic in spite of her German surname.

I was fortunate enough to see her live spanning 30 years. She wanted to do big band music inches early 80's so she reached out to Nelson Riddle. Two albums were released, and as usual, she killed it! Then, there was the collaborative album with😊 Aaron Neville which earned them a Grammy followed by a jazz album and children's album. Check out the documentary Sound of My Voice for historical context.

And this is just not "the other side" of Linda Ronstadt...it is one of many of her "sides." Look further into her rock/country music, continue with her Mariachi and then move into her Musical Theatre/Broadway (Gilbert and Sullivan), Big Band with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra, and with the Trio going back to Country. There is so much more to Linda, and I'm so glad to see you appreciating her brilliance and gift.

A labor of love, she wanted to do this as a tribute to her father. These are among the songs she heard in the house growing up. She had to relearn Spanish to do the album. Sadly, when she started "Touring" this show, some purchased tickets to see Ronstadt sing her (English) hits. Some folks, it is said, demanded their money back.

I enjoy your reactions which always include intelligent and incisive commentary. The only thing I don't care for is your intro. You don't have to try and be super upbeat/hip, because it really just comes off as awkward and forced. I think if you just came up with a nice engaging catchphrase delivered in a normal way, it would be just as effective. Normally when I hear an intro such as yours, I won't even continue with the video, because the person usually continues with the same forced manner of speaking/acting. However once you get past your intro, you settle into your normal personality which is quite pleasant and enjoyable and really all that you need. This is obviously just my opinion but I do watch an awful lot of reactors. I am only offering this in the spirit of encouraging a possible modification, that would just make you appear more natural and might engage more viewers/subscribers. Most sincerely, ☮️ Steve
