What a humble sensei. He talked more about his own sensei than about himself.

Master Maeda comes off as such a humble spirit that has so much power stored under that kind face. The skills of his 7th dan student were amazing. It would have been awesome to see this master as well as the other featured in this series shown in the prime of their lives. Don't get me wrong - these 70-82 year old masters as simply amazing and their martial arts are powerful and dangerous should they ever be needed. Thanks again Chris - I love the series!

Every one of the senseis I have seen interviewed all have a humble spirit. I think it is a product of having so much respect for the art they represent.

really enjoy watching this series. I trained kyokushin karate for 10 years which is a Japanese style eventhough based on Gojuryu and Shotokan. It's more about discipline, strictness, perfection of movement and the bushido or samurai way. I just love how different Okinawa karate is, more relaxed and it's more about the understanding and application of movements. And all the sensei are so humble, soft spoken and kind.

I was privileged to travel to Okinawa and train with Kiyomasa Maeda for two weeks, receiving my Shodan grade in the Kaikan in 2018. I train with Michael Quinn Sensei here in Ireland where we honour the style and culture of Okinawan karate.

I wanted to give my sincere gratitude for these amazing videos that you have put up sir 🙏 I had the privilege of becoming a Karateka in 2011 and have been in love ever since. As such, I try and absorb as much Okinawan knowledge as I can as it is the birth place of the art. These videos only help me have a deeper understanding of what I love so much. Thank you 🙏. Osu!

His Yamanni Ryu technique is 2nd rate and he's nowhere near Nishime or Oshiro Sensei's level. I love how he talks about how there is this "certain dangerous technique" he really doesn't teach. Please, it's openly taught in both Nishime and Oshiro dojos. yawn.

What are those bo strikes to the air? Is he attacking a drone? LOL
@OkinawanSpirit Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing that it could be attacking someone on horseback, or on higher ground.
