To take into account the album Still Searching he's most defiantly talking about the Christian God. So i read the lyrics out of the booklet of the album. He really isnt bashing religion more like his own experience with religion, which is completely understandable since most people that consider themselves religious are complete hypocrites and what he is saying that people need to find there own ways to find a point in like with or without religion.

I personally am a Christian and I really don't see why everyone is so offended. Just because he says god they immediately point to the Christian God? It could be any religion, and the cross reference isn't necessarily offensive from what I can hear.

Chorus has a cool energetic ring to it but there are some much better songs on Renacer. This isn't directed at some specific religion, it's about people who blindly accept the religion they were raised with without considering other religions. Wake up, the song is a metaphor.

yeahh so true like nobody should need to accept any lifestyles if they dont truly want to, marry someone they dont love or follow a religion if its not what they believe in. There are other religions people are born and raised into and follow them just because of that, but Islam is the biggest example.
