Senses Fail’s Buddy Nielsen unloads on the music biz, the scene and Attila-but it’s all good.

Buddy Nielsen, the hip-shooting majordomo from post-hardcore veterans Senses Fail, stopped by the AP offices to chat up editor in chief Jason Pettigrew for his Cautionary Tales podcast. Nielsen, the fearless dude that he is, pulled no punches about his band’s storied 16-year career, discussing the legal and psychic tripwires his band have gotten caught up in, including (but not limited to) record label migration, the hard sell of myopic record executives, as well as band managers and lawyers unencumbered by ethics and a whole lot more.

yasss Buddy yass you keep doing you. like you have been one of the most INFLUENTIAL bands/artists in the last 2 decades you have left your mark on this world and that is more valuable than any amount of money or fame. I am so happy you weren't the fall out boy of our time cause you have your very own spot in music now. I love how RAW and RUTHLESS you have been despite the backlash. Also I can never thank you enough for putting out pull the thorns from your heart. while of course I'm a huge fan of your classic records this one hit home. I had just come out to my family and had just been sexually assaulted and got a lot of backlash from my family so I was in a dark place. When you came out about your sexuality, trauma, and abuse along w the record it helped me get through such a hard time. That record was like the hug and comfort I never got from my family or the world. So fuck the scene for not supporting you more and standing up to racists, homophobes, and sexual predators because at the end of the day you are impacting people's lives and stomping all that shit down while uplifting others. wow that was long and you'll probably never see this but please never stop making music and I hope you never regret where Senses fail ended up as a band because in my eyes and prob most you're up there with Anthony Green like you guys need to collab on a song or better yet an album that would be a dream come true.

Been called faggot my whole life, im bisexual and I use that word to joke around or insult someone regardless of their sexuallity. Being offended for gay people acting like since he told someone to stop saying faggot, that he's making this big stance against bigotry honestly seems disengeniuous. Threatning people isn't going to change their mind either. I understand his good intentions but he really needs a better grasp of the situation.

Better grasp on the situation? Nobody uses the word "faggot" at all anymore. Could care less if you're bisexual. It was used as a derogatory term for at least the past century. If I started using it around my friends or in public, people would call me out.
