Is taht Shotokan ? i only know 27 katas in shotokan

Yes, It is Shotokan. After of Nakayama of the JKA died in 1987. there was a split and some of his best instructors left and formed another organizations and so on. This is from the Tetsuhiko Asai Sect. They have another 20 plus Kata in the syllabus. The old JKA from 1949 to 2001 produced the best instructors in the world for a period of time. If you look at the old books from Nakayama just look at the instructors he choose to be in it and you can get a sense of the depth of Shotokan. Shotokan is vast and there are many different groups. Japan Karate Shoto is one of them and has many reputable instructors. Oss
