Got My Cannae Phalanx about 2 weeks ago and wow... Love this company... The quality outstanding and the features are awesome...The Dupont Cordura is what makes this pack... Sootch talks about it being softer then the maxpedition material but he doesnt mention weight... The Dupont material is just as strong but way lighter then a lot of tactical packs on the market, I held this pack comparing it to a maxpedition and a condor of the same size and this pack is significantly lighter... And tough? have you watched the stress test the guys from Cannae did? They dragged this pack behind a truck for about a quarter mile and it was barely scuffed up... Maybe Im biased because I am in love with my Cannae pack...lol but seriously these things are top notch. I went to the surplus store looking to spend $90 tops on a new BOB and instead I spent $190 for the Phalanx because it was just that impressive...
@SensiblePrepper8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the solid feedback about your Phalanx. They are top notch and looking forward to seeing it over the long haul. I did mentioned it weighs 2.9 lbs but you're right, the material is tough.

I can testify to the quality of Cannae. The features on this bag look awesome, especially the "yolk cut" (I believe they're called) shoulder straps. The concealed carry pocket looks like a nice host for DFNDR armor backpack plates.

Good morning, my name is Emiliano, I live in Argentina, the southernmost part of the continent, in Patagonia Argentina. I think their videos are very very instructive, I am preppers, hunter, legitimate user of firearms, I carry with me every my Glock 26 or 19 depends on the weather and the clothes. I really think your videos are very good and let me provide you with a very simple data for the review of the backpack .... so that the whistle works should cover the other end and then blow, hahahaha, I have the same whistling in my bracelet paraccord And it happened to me like you ..... I was blowing and nothing but then I realized that you have to cover the hole in the front, hahaha. A cordial greeting, a strong hug from the Patagonia Argentina. FIRM AND DIGNIFIED!!!!!!. Emiliano.-

Just got mine today from Amazon for $99. I'm real excited to use it and see how well it performs. I LOVE all the features and it seems very versatile. I see this being used in a lot of different roles, my EDC bag, carry on bag at the airport, range bag...the options are endless. If it performs well I might even have to get another!

I have the Cannae Urban Prefect. It's like a slimmer, low profile version of the Legion Day pack. I absolutely love it, but I saw Cannae has the Legion pack on sale for $75 until 6/30/18. Gonna order one cuz even though I love my Urban Prefect, it is just a tad too small for my year round needs. Excellent for summer months, but in the cooler seasons I like to keep a jacket with me and that sucks up almost all the space in the Prefect.

Hey @sootch00 @sensibleprepper, how do you compare this to the Rush 24? Nearly same size at the same price point. I personally like that the bladder pouch is segregated from the compartments on the Rush 24, and I like the zipper pouches on the side as opposed to open slots. But in terms of quality, how do they differ?

For our sakes I hope I never get in a fire fight with a backpack on terrible for accuracy. I like the videos... walking around with the backpack on let's me see if the straps are narrow for my build. Luckily I can wear just about any size pack at 6'1" 220 lbs.

While I like this bag and will always have a use for it, after using it for a while for my truck bag, I think I'm more in need of a Maxpedition Gyrfalcon or falcon iii. I like more porches and compartments for separation. The main compartment just has a few pockets and that's about it.

@alvaronavarro83678 жыл бұрын
I think the lining in the ccw pouch is that way because people that does carry a gun in there could use that pocket more easily and it's more comfortable than your standard velcro. I have a 5.11 push pack copy and it's my edc bag. It has a CCW hook n loop pocket that is velcro. I don't have a gun in there, every time i put my hand in that pocket to reach for something it scratches me. I've been thinking about getting some hook n loop patches in there to solve the problem but here in Argentina tactical gear isn't popular there aren't many options and it is expensive like everithing else

The Battle of Cannae was the greatest Roman defeat ever. Several legions were wiped out. Kind of strange to pick that name. I guess you could make the case to choose it because Rome overcame that great defeat to win in the end.

@andrewcheung86177 жыл бұрын
My helmet is an XL and it dosen't even come close to fitting in the external helmet compartment even with my NVG's taken off. This might fit a small helmet but even then you would have to carry your NVG's inside the pack which is close to pointless. Why are the M4 magazine pouches on only one side? Is this to make sure the weight can't be distributed evenly? The main compartment zipper is too small and awkward to use quickly. The rectangular top flap wants to collapse whenever you try to open or close it so it becomes a two handed operation everytime.
@peteaskme89268 жыл бұрын
It's reviews like this one that really get me to wondering just how far below "normal" is my economic situation? The quality looks GREAT , not saying it isn't worth the money at all, but affordable? Not really, I have friends with car payments lower than that price tag. Might just be my lens but that tag is a bit too large to fall into affordable.
@SensiblePrepper8 жыл бұрын
Quality comes with a price but budgets limit us for sure. Buy the best quality you can afford.
@fabiangonzalez-cortes88948 жыл бұрын
Pete Askme For the features and quality, expect to pay $150 or more from comparable competitors. Full featured tactical gear comes at a price. TUMI bags offer the same materials as this bag yet charge $400 because it's "designer". At the end of the day, the bag is worth as much as you think it's worth. Subjective value theory.
@peteaskme89268 жыл бұрын
SensiblePrepper I appreciate the encouragement Sootch. Will and do, the way I figure it ... Budgeting encourages building skills that others may see as not so survival in nature. For example I have acquired various bags and purposed them to various needs (bug out, get home country and get home urban, drop bags for trading and charity.) Each may have weaknesses but with a needle and thread and studious practice I have sewn in options and even fixed durability issues like preventive tearing patches. General durability improvements have proven to be super effective as well as educational in implementing.
@witlleoutdoors91118 жыл бұрын
First off i disagree with you @pete this pack is only $120 so compared to a company like 5.11 or even maxpedition its a great price for the quality. " im only judging quality by this vid i dont own any of these packs". Anyways i respect your opinion and i just wanted to give my two sense. I do agree with you saying the quality looks great and that it may be worth the price tag of over $100. One more thing, i think the reason @sootch says its affordable is because most packs with great quality are well over $150. Have a great day and look forward to reading your reply. Have a blessed day.

Looks like your just churning out another backpack review sootch, love ya, watched you for years but you need to apply some of the akou methodology to your gear tests. Why not? You can consolidate your reviews into something practical. I've always looked at your pristine gear and think... How durable is that? All your gear looks like it's never left the backyard.
@sootch008 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the input and you have a good point. One problem is putting artificial stress on an item and thinking that's a true test. Day to day use is the true test of durability. I have bags that I've used for years that don't look like they've "never left my backyard" and will probably do a video on those bags. Now you have me thinking.... take care.

Super Six Five On amazon most maxpedition packs are in the exact same price range as this backpack. I mean like maybe $10 difference at most. I have a couple of maxpedition products, I can vouch for them being tough and meant to last a lifetime (I use my maxpedition fatboy as a day hike bag and travel bag, still looks brand new after two years.) Honestly though, this company seems to make quality stuff too, so really just get the bag that fits you best regardless of the company it comes from, they both look to be great companies.
@SensiblePrepper8 жыл бұрын
Maxpedition is a benchmark for quality packs. They are adding a new design line so many of the Classic bags are on clearance but it's limited so now is the time to grab a Maxpedition if you've ever wanted one. Regardless, the Legion is a top notch pack.
