How to do sensitivity analysis using Aspen Plus V8.8.
While trying to optimize a process, one wants to do the
same calculations numerous times changing the value of an input parameter or the conditions in reactor or column. This can be done using sensitivity analysis in Aspen Plus.
Example considered is ammonia production. Temperature varied from 200-700 DegC.

can anyone let me know how to see effect of weather (temperature rise) on a process. if a given process, we need to run in ambient temperatures of 15DegC , 25 DegC & 32 DegC ... ? How?

Ambient Temperature does not effect the whole process. It only effects those processes where we are using (mainly) ambient air. One frequently encountered problem in process industries is the performance of condenser in distillation column when water is used as a cooling medium. The hot water of the condenser is pumped up to be cooled in the cooling tower where it is cooled by evaporative cooling. The problem is that the ambient conditions in summer are worse. The dry bulb and wet bulb temperatures are high and evaporative cooling in the cooling tower becomes ineffective and hence performance drops. It means the cooling tower is not able to cool the circulating cooling water up to the desired level. This in turn affect the condenser performance i.e. condenser is not able to cool the vapor phase and pressure in condenser increases. To maintain the pressure, vapor has to be flared. So, to study the effect of ambient temperature on process, increase the water temperature which is going into the the condenser.

anand bharti. Thanks for your reply. What in case of equipments absorbing sunlight and heat ? Like a separator or a column whose material absorbs sunlight and heat . Does it effect process ?
