@ Josette Beechey Our Savior came to call sinners to repentance, so that sin should not have dominion and power over us. Jesus said, “Apart from Me you can do nothing. I am the Vine and you are the branches. If you remain united to me, you can ask the Father for anything in My Name and He will give it to you. Ask that your joy may be full. If you ask according to the Will of God.” It is God’s will that we live holy pure lives, in mind, heart, soul and body. Gospel St John Chapter 15: It is not God’s will that His children are held in bondage in the grip of Satan and sin. It matters not how small the sin seems to be. The author of sin is Satan and Satan wants to destroy us, in this life and in hell for all eternity. Sin is a cancer, that spreads, which will eventually destroy our whole triune person, Spirit /Soul, Mind and Body in this world and in hell for all eternity. Our Lord Jesus came, so that sin would no longer have dominion and power over us. Meditate in the Gospels St. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Read 1st Epistle St. John 1: -5: Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians. The Life, purity and goodness in meditating and contemplating the teachings of Jesus Christ the Son of God, is the only salvation for our immortal souls. The only way to destroy the power of sin in our life is to face Satan and our sin in full combat with our Cross through contemplating the Life of Christ in the Word of God. Be as willing to be crucified in Christ’s death on your cross today, than to ever willfully commit another sin, thereby giving your allegiance to the Antichrist and be forever separated from our Divine Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 5: 6: Matthew 4: 1-11. Always praying that the Will of God the Father be done, in every situation, according to the Word of God, through faith that works by LOVING God and keeping His all His Commandments.. It is God’s Will that we are empowered to destroy Satan and the power sin has over our heart, soul, mind, body and all carnal desires. Romans 5: 6: 7: 8: "Those who belong to Christ Jesus our Lord, have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts” Galatians 5: 16 - 26. “The road to life is narrow and few there are who find it.” Matthew 7: 13 - 14. Gospel John 3: 14 -18. 14. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up. 15. That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that 'WHOEVER BELIEVES in HIM' should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18. He that believes on Him is not condemned; but he that BELIEVES NOT is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only Begotten Son of God. Numbers 21: 6-9. Thou shalt nots have been covered ad nauseam, especially the 6th and 9th commandment. What about thou shalts as they pertain to married life? What is marital chastity in terms of how couple ought to behave? Do people know that the "marital embrace" is not just a fringe benefit, but a duty of the married couple? Hollywood would make us think that everyone, especially the unmarried are constantly having sex. The bigger issue is perhaps that the married aren't, not as much as they should. This fact was mentioned to me by a priest. Marital chastity is not the same as perfect chastity of the unmarried. It's a different vocation altogether and violations of the state in life are common on both sides.

@@jamie7880 Fr. Ripperger is not infallible. It's not the 6th and 9th commandments I'm taking issue with. It's Fr. Ripperger's exaggerated black and white take on chastity. There's a lot of finer nuances in regards to sexual desire and arousal that a celibate priest simply doesn't understand, as evidenced by some of his claims here, because he hasn't directly experienced them in the way a person who goes from dating, to being engaged, to being married does. Priests can be great resources for teaching about the broad principles of sexual ethics. But when it comes to their practical application, it's way more nuanced that Fr. Ripperger implies or seems to realize. He's being overly-dogmatic about things which are not a matter of dogma and doesn't really know what he's talking about with everything he says. 🤷‍♀

@@jamie7880 Case in point: I'm married. The sexual desire I have for my husband is almost in a completely different category than what I experienced when we were dating/engaged. Most of the time, kissing on the lips did not make me immediately want to have sex, as Fr. Ripperger implies here. I experienced arousal, but it was not an arousal for sex. It was an arousal of the desire to be closer to my beloved. I wanted to be held longer and kissed more. That desire in itself is different kind of desire than directly desiring sexual intimacy. This is what Fr. Ripperger does not seem to realize in the way he talks about arousal. And in talking about arousal in the way he does, he is sowing seeds of scrupulosity in the hearts of his listeners. It's not a mortal sin to kiss on the lips or embrace and subsequently be aroused in the way I described above. It's not a mortal sin to desire closeness to one's beloved. So long as an action is not arousing a desire for sex itself, it's not a sinful action. Period.

Slave of Jesus Christ The accusation that the Church changed the Commandments is simply slander that grew out of the vitriol of the Reformation, and the listing 10 Commandments was an opportunity seized on by some to try to undermine the Church. But the fact remains that the numbering of the 10 Commandments is not a rigid Biblical concept, but one developed by scholars and theologians, so regardless of which method is used, the duty to obey them is not changed, and could never be changed.

You fool! Read the Bible and you will notice that there is no set numbering scheme for the list of the ten commandments. You can pick it apart in different ways. Protestants and the Orthodox Church follows how Origen interpreted the numbering and Catholics follow the Augustine way of the numbering. Why don't you do some research before spouting false lies. And since you are not Catholic, then that means you should be inspired with the word of God, no? i.e. the Bible.
