I started becoming obsessed with Hell/The Lake Of Fire/Tartarus/The Outer Darkness. I asked God for a revelation & fear of Hell. I started meditating on the permanence of Hell. I asked God for the truth. He led me to the Catholic Church after being a Protestant for 15 yrs. FSSP Latin Rite Catechumen. Ave Dei Christi, Ave Maria. Please pray for me!

I hope you made it to confession, this saint was for his times and can be scary but don’t forget st faustina, she’s more recent in human history and she was given to us by Christ to show his mercy. I was in your state for a long time and was so bad that I had to go to confession weekly, sometimes multiple times a week but over time received the graces to stay in grace. Now I’m just thanking God for His mercy, praying more and receiving the Eucharist often. I pray you reach this state, if I can anyone can.

The referenced parable of the wicked servant (Matt 18:23-34) is not a reference to hell, but a reference to purgatory. Hell is eternal, purgatory is temporary, so once his debt was paid, he was released. There is no release from hell.

I wanted to consider it as the top levels of Hell, but that is in conflict with Church teaching which may be considered it as the bottom rung of Heaven. My preference for the former is as a concession for the so called ‘good’ non Catholics, so that later when their offsprings‘ conversion (and prayers) might help them out of their place.

The reader incorrectly calls the Apocalypse of St John (Revelation) as "Apocrypha" at 13:30 in the video. Probably not familiar with the abbreviation which is Apoc.

However, in 1546 the Roman Catholic Council of Trent specifically listed the apocryphal books approved by the Roman Catholic Church as inspired and they are always included in Roman Catholic Bibles and are usually interspersed among the books of the Old Testament. The Apocrypha generally consists of 14 booklets of which 1 and 2 Maccabees and 1 Esdras are the main documents and form the bulk of the apocryphal writings. First Maccabees is an historical account of the struggle of the Maccabee family and their followers for Jewish independence from 167 to 134 BC. Second Maccabees covers the same ground but dramatizes the accounts and makes moral and doctrinal observations. Other books are Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Ecclesiasticus, and The Wisdom of Solomon.

That's just terrible. First of all, it's obviously not St. Alfonsus Liguori speaking, so I don't know why it says that in the title. Second, even though he is speaking as if to children, I can't make sense of this. It seems like he's adding context to the Bible without supporting the addition(s). And he's also using outdated British monetary measurements in the paraphrase, which makes me question his devotion to the truth vs regurgitating just what someone else has said (which is as common amongst trads as it is among libs and protestants). Halfway in he quotes Lam 3:18, which not only doesn't say what he says it does, but if you look at the word translated in it, it could actually be a case for annihilationism. The Strong's definition of the word (the thing that the passage says "has perished") is "eminence, enduring, everlastingness, perpetuality" So it could be read as "my everlastingness has perished" - i.e. the eternal death (as in dead eternally, not eternally dying) of an immortal soul. @13:00 he lists off a bunch of Bible verses that only mean eternal conscious torment if you eisegesis it. His best case makes it sound like only people who willfully with full knowledge offend God will be in hell, which takes out the blind fear element he was playing at the beginning. And as a Christian I'm automatically more skeptical of anyone playing fear, since it is against the virtue of hope.
