What does the sin of lust do to us? As in how does it effect our reasoning? St Thomas helps teach us about this. For more please visit www.romans10sev... & remember to say 3 Hail Marys for the priest

This is in accordance with our Lady's teaching that more souls go to Hell for sins of the flesh than for any other reason. I tremble to think that I nearly died on several occasions and had I done so I would have ended up in Hell. But God in His immense mercy was long suffering and patient with me waiting for me to repent. Praise God for His infinite mercy. Hail Queen of Heaven who has given me the grace to stop masturbating, a sin I was enslaved to for most of my life.The Apostles were amazed and they asked "Who then can be saved?"

@Royal S "A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head." Rev 12:1 "She gave birth to a son, a male child, who "will rule all the nations with an iron scepter." And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne." Rev 12:5 Mary, the mother of Christ is the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
@lms1539

@Royal S As far as just the symbolism goes, she is literally crowned with the heavens, the sun itself is her garment, and though many wicked and powerful men in history have managed to put the world under their feet, none have ever put the very heavens under their feet. Besides the symbolism, it would make logical sense, the mother of the King is the Queen. So because Christ is the King of Heaven and Earth, Mary is likewise the Queen. You may or may not be catholic, but regardless, this understanding of Mary is certainly not contrary to basic Christianity. We don't worship Mary, we only worship the Most Holy Trinity. We honor Mary as the Mother of God and as our Queen. This is certainly pleasing to God as He loved/loves Her more dearly than anyone else, She is His own mother after all.

I go for almost daily Mass & frequent Confession almost all my life. I have all the technology @ my disposal & for the greater part are alone @ home & NEVER have any urge to commit the sins of the flesh or tempted to commit mortal sin. I pray several Rosaries daily & to St.Philomena for purity but pray The Holy Bible daily above all besides blessing all our bedrooms & every room daily with Holy Water with the short prayer “May this Holy Water in The Name of Jesus bless (Name)”. The Scapular is like my second skin and it definitely is greatly my defense but above all God Almighty is my shield. BTW, stopped watching TV over 20 yrs. ago which is an absolute waste of time. If I can do it, so can you.🙏🏼

According to the records of his canonization, Thomas fell at once into a mystical sleep and had a vision. Two angels came to him from heaven and bound a cord around his waist, saying, “On God’s behalf, we gird you with the girdle of chastity, a girdle which no attack will ever destroy.” In the records of his canonization, many different witnesses who knew St. Thomas at different points in his life remarked about his evidently high degree of purity and chastity. The angels’ gift preserved St. Thomas from sexual temptation and bestowed upon him an enduring purity that ennobled all his thoughts and actions. Pope Pius XI wrote: “If St. Thomas had not been victorious when his chastity was in peril, it is very probable that the Church would never have had her Angelic Doctor.”

Sin can open doors that can't be closed. Some of the repercussions of sin over time are coldness or lukewarmness towards God, spiritual blindness, spiritual deafness, spiritual drunkedness, spiritual deception, spiritual darkness, demonic oppression or possession, perversion, addiction, idolotry, depression, emptiness, desperation, spiritual harlotry, apostasy, a hardened heart, a loss of conscience, depravity, and enmity with God.

Why does it seem to be mostly succes stories about healing from sexual sin? I don't have this kind of succes yet, and i am pretty scared for my soul. I am catholic for more than a year now, and i still fall into this sin very often. The urge to do it feels so strong that i just can't seem to stop myself. I am so full of shame and disguist, i don't know what to do. It goes from going to confession and crying afterwards to doing the same thing 2 days later. I feel so rotten and stupid. I hate this ignorant and destroying habbit, but always to late! I am now willing to try a porn blocker on my computer and smartphone, but the problem is internal not external. I fear that if i get in this demonic mood i wil find a way to do it anyway. I pray the rosary "not every day but most of the time" wear my scapular, and i even try to pray when i am in this "mood" but it only helps temporary and at some point i just snap and do it anyways. Is there a catholic here that get's my point and has advice please?

Everytime you have the urge...say to yourself...'what if a plane crashes right where I am right now'?...or what if I have a heart attack while doing this? Am I ready...is my soul ready? Know in your heart that the devil is beside you laughing and urging you to do it at that moment...while God and your guardian angel are at a distance feeling lonely and hoping you can resist the temptation. Pray the Rosary everyday (best time after midnight...in your bedroom...alone...all lights off...when everyone is asleep...with a soft beautiful piano relaxation music from you tube in the background). Say all your petitions and personal intentions at the same time...and when you pray close your eyes and feel every word you say...imagine that Virgin Mary is watching you from a distance above you...and...God...from heaven above happily looking at you. And lastly... everything here on earth doesn't matter... everything...because at the end... it's only between You (or Me)...and GOD.

Think of our Lord's passion. The way our Lord was whipped. Meditate on it and remind yourself every time you are tempted, that our Lord died for you. Meditate on the amount of blood He lost, His intestines leaking out, the crown of thorns piercing into His brain, Him falling 3 times carrying the heavy cross, the nails being hammered into His hands and feet etc... Do this sincerely. Flee from all instances of temptation, remove yourself from the situation like Padre Pio said. Whenever you see something lustful, look away immediately! Custody of the senses and custody of the mind must be practiced! Whenever you are tempted, ask Padre Pio and our Blessed Mother to pray for you! Say "precious blood wash over me, protect me from the wickedness and snares of the devil!" Invoke the name of Jesus and Mary, wear a St Benedict medal and recite the prayer inscribed, splash yourself with holy water, say the prayer on St Anthony's brief! Do all this with devotion to our Blessed Lord, letting His love for you triumph over the temptation. Watch Venerable Fulton Sheen's lectures as well. God Bless you!

There is no love, companionship or friendship in Hell, everyone there is isolated and turned in on themselves, that's why they can't escape it even if the gates of Hell were opened and they could walk right to it. Everyone there hates the guts of every other person or demon there, there is no love there, there's only power... But what power does a weak suffering human there have? Humans have no power there, they can only be victims to those more powerful than them... They can cry out to God all they like, but He cannot pull them from there because they only ask to minimize their suffering, not because they actually want to be with Him, they only love themselves or whatever disordered attachment that got them there.

It seems prideful to think that we would not have committed the same sin as Adam and Eve had we been in their place. +smokeybirdman We were created immortal for an eternity with God in His love. Since the sin of man, we now have to face death but this death is not the end but a continuation of our immortal life into either God's precense(LIFE) or eternal damnation (DEATH). You see, in the spiritual language Life can mean being in comunion with God while death can mean a ruptured comunion from God who is Life itself. Life and death in Christianity mean much more than we typically consider.

The soul is immortal. That's what the Church teaches. If you are going to dismiss this as moronic nonsense then perhaps you aren't sincere in saying you want to understand. You are struggling, sure, but perhaps you don't really want to understand. Also, if you are truly sincere you must pray and ask God to help you understand instead of 'inviting' good Catholics who only wish to help you to answer your questions only to be told they give moronic nonsense. I'm not trying to agitate things, just trying to give fraternal correction. Take it or leave it. Up to you. Cheers!

We know they were immortal because through eating from the Tree of Knowing Good and Evil they brought Death into the world. There was no Death before they ate from that Tree. The Tree of Life was a Foreshadow of things to come by our Redeemer. Perhaps you have heard of the Eucharist? When Adam and Eve sinned they gave up the Immortality of their Flesh, their physical Bodies. And, if you recall correctly, God said they could eat from EVERY Tree, EXCEPT the one they ate from and sinned. If the Tree of Life was in the Garden before they ate from the Tree of Knowing Good and Evil, then if we listen to what is said it was a Tree they were able to eat freely from. Of course that is just a GUESS, and not Church Dogma, I am just a lay person, take it for what it is worth.

This is how I feel about lust. The sexual, emotional urge is in each & every one of us human beings. Tgat's part of our animal instincts, because we're animals right? Honestly, I think it's okay to complement the woman or man on his/her looks, sex appeal and so forth. Imagination can be your friend also. But, common sense says to DON'T ACT on those urges. That's just HOW I see it. That's my opinion.But, hey, free will from God right? Lol It even says in the Bible (I think somewhere in Matthew) that any man who has looked upon a woman with "lust" has committed adultery in his heart. So, that means all the boyfriends, husbands, fiancees are going to go in the bottomless pit of fire in eternal damnation of hell, for having the sexual urge of lust aka one of the "deadly sins" just to keep their relationship together. But, somewhere in Song of Solomons, those paticular verses, go into graphic detail, of equating the song to certain parts of a woman's body! Talk about keeping the Word of God & Christ. Sheez! But, you have to understand that message contradicts its own self. Sex is a beautiful thing, but years after years, the 1% and people desecrate it. You just have to keep that in mind. My 2 cents. Maybe like someone said, don't take everything that we hear too literally, take it by a grain of sand, but still be a little cautious. That's all.
@TF80s
@TF80s 6 жыл бұрын
Did you not listen to the priest?? Common sense goes out the window when you let lust control you..Listen you either believe in God or you don't but if you do you must understand that we were created with one purpose & that's to love God first & foremost & therefore lustful thoughts & desires which are entirly self serving obviously must offend him greatly?? You're actually exactly the type of person that the priest is talking about who gets angry at this teaching because it goes so much against our fallen human nature. I'm not judging you because I am also that type of person in times of weakness (I thought everyone was) but at the end of the day I know that I'm the one in the wrong & with God's help must always strive to do better...We have sexual desire for one reason & that's for a husband & wife to procreate & potentially bring more souls into God's future kingdom & anything it's used for beyond that is offensive to God pure & simple..We are not animals, we have an eternal soul, self awareness and a conscience. We're supposed to be pleasing to God & control our passions/desires no matter how hard that is to do but we can't do it alone so we have to pray to God for the grace to control ourselves & avoid all occasions of sin that lead to lust, which includes just simply looking away when tempted by someone we see. If you think lust is not a sin because it's natural & makes us feel good then any mutual sexual activity it leads to (like adultery for one) must also be ok because how can it be so wrong if it feels so good, right? There's a big difference between being naturally attracted to a person & letting your imagination run wild thinking about what you'd like to do with that person sexually. Again I'm not judging you as it's a constant struggle for me too but I know it's God's will that we trust in his help & mercy & keep fighting against it..God bless.

We are not "animals". We are divinely made in the image of God. Human. Animals have no reason and we do. We are NOT animals.
