St. Teresa of Avila (15 October): Butler's Lives of the Saints

My husband and I married at the beautiful Church of Santa Teresa de Jesús in Mexico City. Little did I know about St. Therese at that time, today she is one of my favorite female saints. Her statue shows on my wedding pictures at the altar and it’s just beautiful. St. Theresa pray for us.

I find her life rather overwhelming. I would be discouraged except I sincerely hope God will take us from where we are now to whatever level of prayer we can arrive at before we die. But, my goodness, she considers sins and faults things that just seem normal today, not even really wrong. We should at least begin to do better.

Reading her edifying autobiography. Yet on hearing this I’m at once amazed at how people could have so many children-9 in father’s second marriage before death of mother at 33! Would love to know more about her mother.
