@@sentdex Programmers indeed tend to be self-learners and often want to start doing everything by themselves (good example is the amount of software and framework which exists that does the exact same). I live in Japan and also planning on moving to the country-side and planning on growing most of my vegetables myself. :p

For what it's worth, one of the huge upsides of a great creator like you making tutorials is getting suggestions of what's possible. LLMs are great for learning things, but often people don't know good questions to ask. Love seeing the ranch! Will definitely watch the solar progression.

They're incredibly cheap now and the tech for these is absolutely bananas. Thank you for inspiring me to put in the effort to become a programmer 8ish years ago. It was your Python Plays GTAV that got me hooked right as I dropped out of college. I’m deploying LLMs now. Worked in big tech. In some sense pushing up against the boundaries of what’s technically feasible. Started and closed some startups. I have a family now. I’ve done well for myself, but I will forever be grateful to you for providing me with an accessible opportunity to learn how to program. A part of me is sad to know that there won’t be more of those kinds of tutorials (for no reason other than nostalgia), but I understand. Can’t blame ya really, I’d probably do the same thing. Anyways, thanks. I’m glad to see you and your family are doing well.
@sentdex8 күн бұрын
I still think about doing tutorials re: devving with LLMs or something, it's just totally different now. But I still think people could be inspired to work on cool stuff very much in the same way. It was just so easy to package previous tutorials, I need a new way to present it.
@xXMockapapellaXx8 күн бұрын
@@sentdex Maybe build a brand new thing using LLMs each video? It would give insight into how to think about using them. From my experience, unlike with text to image AIs like with Midjourney where all the prompts are public, working with code and AI isn’t, so it’s much harder for a newbie to understand how to properly use an AI for coding.

I have an entire Tesla solar panel and battery backup at home. This makes life so much easier when hurricanes pass by. It has saved my bacon twice already. I am working towards mostly off-grid house. What a dream. Living off-grid, on solar, and doing biotech research/programming. What state is your land in, and what was the approximate price? UPDATE: It is Alabama.😊
@sentdex7 күн бұрын
Depends where you're looking for land and the proximity to city + other features of the property like water access/pond/creek, flood status, zoning, and other factors like farm-ability...etc. Generally land is 3-6K an acre around here, but it varies a ton based on a bunch of factors.

Congratulations on the twins, they are going to have so much cool stuff to play with growing up! Something I wondered; if the power goes out, do you lose internet access as well or is the ISP connection unaffected? Do the cell towers in a remote area have backups or different powerlines? Totally agree on staying on grid in combination with solar, seems by far the most cost effective solution. The power infrastructure in general is a bit underdeveloped right now but I'm sure we'll see power infra upgrades over the coming years / decade in the remote areas. The ranch is looking amazing! Owning a tractor / shovel (I guess excavator in English?) is really a force multiplier for so many projects. As for a horse or donkey, maybe you could look for rescued ones that need a home (if it's an option for you - I'm not sure)? Living the dream!!
@sentdex8 күн бұрын
At the moment i lose net because of where the starlink is connected. Once i solar the first chunk of the house though i wont lose internet anymore even if city power drops. Cell should stay in tact but we have p bad cell out here anyway. Have looked at some donkey rescues and apparently BLM adopts out and sells some from their lands as they get over populated.

Watch out for danger of voltages above 50v, also Don’t switch off / disconnect panels when fully illuminated. DC plasma arcing can cause fire.

Thanks! One of the really nice things these hysolis units come with is a PV breaker per inverter, so it's just 1 more way to be 100% confident there's nothing attempting to draw power as you connect/disconnect. Trust me, I'm going extremely slow every time I'm connecting or disconnecting things lol. Electricity scares me.
