Best selling author and equine-facilitated learning pioneer Linda Kohanov talks about the power of Sentient Communication, a modality she developed through 20 years of working with horses and other animals. In 2019, Linda will offer workshops on this topic at the Rowe Center in Massachusetts in May, in Montana in July, in the Netherlands in October and at her home base in Arizona in November. When I dropped expectations and old mindsets of preconceived roles, my mare began sharing her sentient nature with me. She is my greatest soul friend, healer and teacher.

Everything you say resonates deeply with me. We started with Liberty clicker time. Now we lay together and star gaze. It’s the most beautiful meditation time

Whew,,I feel as if a whirlwind just blew thru my house ! i would soooo love you to really s-l-o-w down in this presentation/marketing video,, I would so love to be invited as an interested listener to Breathe a Breath of Presence with you,,i would love you to invite me to Breathe with your Horse friend,, I would so love if you offer/demonstrate an experience of conscious, Present, Breath-full, Sentient communication., such as I experience with horses, trees, Nature,, and a few rare precious humans.. the video leaves me feeling Breath-less, dizzy, I just cannot keep pace with the speed, and steady verbal stream describing your workshop of Sentient Communication!

Why is Leila pushing you around without respecting your comfort zone around the whole arena overtaking your place? Why are you allowing her doing that and let her be the leader? She was even close to biting you... And why is nobody seeing this lack of awareness, respect and leadership?

This horse will engage in mutual grooming with people (without biting them) and she will point to where she wants to be scratched. If you watch the video again, notice that she is constantly pointing to her belly area with her nose because she most wants me to scratch her there that day. She also likes to have her rear scratched and you could see her making that request at one point. I'm talking to the camera so I am not going to reach under her belly or scratch her butt because it would be awkward for me while I'm talking, but I often do spend time with her just milling around with her, petting her and engaging in mutual grooming. I let her be somewhat directive of me on those occasions. By me being responsive to her requests, she has become more communicative by pointing to where she wants to be scratched and making other requests. If I am doing more directive training with her, I don't let her step into my space. She can tell the difference between free time where she can express her desires, and training time where I am calling the shots. All of my horses learn to point to where they want to be scratched, but not all of my horses can be trusted to engage in mutual grooming with a human. Leyla is one of the few who can gently rub a human with her lips. Other horses would be tempted to use their teeth because that's what they do when they groom other horses. It really is a rare horse who can learn to groom a human with just their lips. With more naturally dominant horses, I also do not let them be as directive of me because with such horses you cannot yield to them EVER or they will take more and more advantage.

@@lindakohanov5072 :-) and as a professional Natural Horsemanship Trainer I can only see someone not being aware and being pushed around by a horse not respecting your personal comfort zone.

@@hardyhexalorian958 It would seem that you are trying to dictate what Linda's "personal comfort zone" is Hardy. You don't know Linda, her horse, or what Linda's comfort zone is so I'd say you are making an awful lot of assumptions based on supposition and your comfort zone with horses.

@@idgieemma If you understand horses and their natural behavior and also the rules of Natural Leadership you will see what´s obvious. It has nothing to do with assumptions. It´s the foundation of working with horses and humans and what all the Natural Horsemanship trainers know. It doesn´t help to justify this with nice words that make no sense but sound good. But there´s awareness first to understand. That´s why I mentioned it, to make people see what´s so wrong here. Bad for the horse and bad for the human and even worse for a deep relationship and important to understand instead of following blind someone who finds only good sounding words to justify lack of Horsemanship. Sorry, but I want to be honest for the Horses: 'You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink' So it´s up to you to see more than one opinion... A horse moving and pushing and even try to bite his partner is bad behavior and shows a wrong relationship - no matter how you try to explain it.

@@hardyhexalorian958 I have been working with horses for more than 20 years so please don't assume to know me. The simple fact is that you are talking in circles. Speaking of Linda's comfort zone while trying to dictate what she should be comfortable with based on your limited understanding of what is involved in her work as well as what is comfortable for her when interacting with her own horses. Perhaps you should try attending one of her programs when our current conditions allow and gain an actual personal understanding without making assumptions.

If you have such an amazing connection with your horse through your use of sentient communication, then why is it pushing you around and trying to bite you.
