Sentimental is a short composition for 8-instruments. This piece is reverently dedicated to the memory of Percy Aldridge Grainger. I think it is vital that composers pay homage to the greats! Especially those often overlooked souls who have impacted us most deeply.
Grainger's music-the time of his writing (early 1900's), his choice of instruments, his quirky decisions, and lush harmonies all scream genius to me. "Following no ones light but his own", as his biographer John Bird writes. I could write endlessly of his music, but I will spare you... for now.
