I get that but swapping roles don't really make sense to me. The whole time John was playing for Sen, he was playing Controller/Sentinel, and when N4rrate was playing for KC, he was flexing Duelist/Initiator. Swapping roles with John doesn't really make sense and even if it does, it still probably won't be any better than just them being in their respective roles

Narrate is a great initiator an johnqt has always played a good cypher so idk why Sen swapped their roles. Johnqt also likes lurking and he cant really do that on the initiator its just doesnt make sense all around.

It's funny. When FNS did the same role swap, he had the EXACT same issues as the ones you stated in this video. The main one being lurking/not playing with the pact as an initiator. It's weird how they say they want to play with the pact more, but they don't. This is definitely fixable though, it's just habits they have to fix from role to role.

n4rrate overheats WAYY too much, he looks like a genius when it works (vs eg and c9) but when it doesn't it kinda throws, against teams like Lev, Nrg, G2 it is gonna be a problem. I think it's because n4rrate is an initiator player that came from a duelist player, he seems really agressive and on a sentinel agent seems off. N4rrate could help much more with execs (as his aim is clearly better than Johnqt's) and Johnqt (who is much less agressive) could lurk much easier as well as maybe hold easier (as he doesn't get too agressive)

I like how FNS has been trying to transition in a slower way to the roles closer to the pack. Harbor on Abyss and Breach on Split(+ a few other maps) but he still plays Viper and Cypher. Not a hard forced transition like SEN but a more gradual change. It's also good how they give him room for error in the team comps he's on these agents. For example, if he ends up defaulting to a lurk/sentinel position then it's not as punishing since they are running double initiator and Breach has range so can still use util for the team.

My problem with the swap is n4rrate aside from just being an amazing initiator, is one of the best Fades imo. Having john as skye would be okay but like you said, i think the agent requires too much attention to also be the igl. And on Sova maps i imagine they would want zekken a lot. So it just seems like there's a role issue with their comps

There is no role issue? JohnQT plays Sentinel, Narrate Initiator, Bang Controller (literally every Controller on a good Level unlike TenZ who’s an Omen one trick) Zekken Duelist and Zellsis Flex. Their roster is literally built PERFECT for any comp lol. Double Duelist? Zekken/Narrate Duelist + Zellsis Initiator and both common double Initiator and double Controller are Zellsis normal flex roles aswell (Viper/Initiator) like it’s really not hard, Sen is just doing unnecessary stupid stuff like they always did after 2021. 2022 stupid role changes for SicK bringing in Kanpeki instead of a Controller player, LCQ Sen was fine then but had to little time, 2023 Sen made no sense to switch away Pancada and Sacy from their roles, 2024 was fine but TenZ being only good at Omen gave them some problems, 2025 they got straight upgrades Bang>TenZ and Narrate>Sacy and are experimenting again for whatever reason

I geniuinely don't understand why they decided to swap the roles around. Didn't they get zellsis just so they could get a secondary shot caller to give calls when john is lurking? And I thought N4rrate and Bang we're supposed to replace Tenz and Sacy, It made sense to have someone like N4rrate to cover Tenz' firepower and Bang to take over Sacy's more passive and controlled playstyle. I get that they want to try new things out first, But it litterally makes no sense to not give your new star player in N4rrate the sentinel role, And then give your Igl who specializes in sentinels an initiator role.

This might be off, but it feels like they're holding back strats-switching roles or adjusting player molds, as tmv suggested. Also, Skye at A site CT; John’s used to that position as a Sentinel and seems to default there. We often see Skye at CT but in 3v2 or 3v3 situations.

As a SEN fan I totally agree Like john is a sentinel/controller and our initiator sacy retired and that is the whole reason we have narrate on our team and you swap the sentinel/controller with the initiator? Makes no sense I hope we don't have to go through the season waiting for both players adapting to their new roles that would be painful to watch

JohnQT switching to initiator is probably part of the theory to have your IGL be part of the pack. Guard/G2 did a similar swap before where Valyn switched from controller to initiator. In theory, it is harder to IGL when your agent may be best intended to be solo lurking/defending on the other side of map instead of being with the majority of the team, so as an IGL, you have to rely on comms and the minimap to call what to do at a given moment. In theory, you can make faster calls when you are with most of your team and trust the solo lurker/defender to take their own timings and buy enough space for a rotate or lurk. If you are an IGL controller/sentinel, it can be bad if you are alone on one side, and then someone takes a timing as you are looking at the minimap to make a call. This is not a hard rule, and IGLs in the past have done fine with just being in any role that is not the duelist/entry, but Sentinels seem interested in trying out the optimal IGL role.

Maybe instead of having select roles, they take the more 2023 EG and current NRG approach of flexing around N4RRATE, johnQT, and Zellsis based on the map, all while keeping bang on main controller and zekken on duelist. We saw on some maps FNS was initiator and on others he was the sentinel or viper. I think SEN can do it.

I feel like the change was unnecessary, although it is more common for the igl to play smokes/flex and be closer to the team.. john managed to call perfectly from sentinel and was absolutely brilliant holding down a site, and narrate was an s tier trader and initiator/jett player it was the perfect fit to pair with zekken with the weaker jett and also Godly sova. Probably didn't go to well on scrims so they gave up on it, but hoping they give it another chance

For the play on 7:55: heres my analysis. Maybe sen wanted skye to play there to trick a fake screens+ heaven split, since having skye play there alone while the entire team push main would force nrg to expect the retake from screens (where skye is) and obviously heaven and this would take attention from main where all 4 players will heavily contest. It was a VERY risky play however leaving skye alone there. And i believe one of the players should have stayed with skye or at least near heaven incase they get flanked by omen tp or something

man, i feel like people with this take are hyper causal, John was an insane initiator on ghost gaming, and n4rrate has an insane clutch gene in him that really gets extracted out better when your playing senti, on top of that sentis pick out more 1v1s then any other role so you want your best shooters on said role, look at Yay, Alfa, Benjy, N4rrate, Metor, all of these players on 1st or at worst 2nd best fraggers on there teams, this is not an issue, sen shouldve close out sunset yesterday and certainly couldve played better on split but didnt, teams still gelling but to say this is an issue is over stating it.

John basically went from lurking and making calls while lurking to now playing a crazy intensive agent and calling he will be way more overloaded now then he was last year and then having N4rrate a player who is notoriously known for being a top tier fade playing sentinel is just dumb he already is good at initiator I have a feeling he can pick up skye pretty quickly. They both will get pretty good at their rolls i don't doubt that but they will never reach how good each other is at their opposing rolls.

Why would they do something like that if even people who are dogshit at the game in reality (I think this won't be including you just a hunch but you are actually quite smart and composed). The reason for this is that it will make IGL'ing quite a bit easier for John as he will have the ability to get info when he wants it every time. Also N4rrate should 100% still play Fade on Fade maps imo but on other maps him on Sentinel makes sense because he is an INSANE clutcher and is mechanically cracked so he could prb win a lot of fights on lurks. Also they are both incredibly good and flexible players so they will work out the small problems soon enough and they will end up being a better team with these roles

Take this with a hundred grains of salt as i have no insider info this is just a fan theory looking from outside but I think they might prep ing for zellsis to leave the team in place for reduxx because Zellsis was (atleast heavily rumored to be) filling in as the secondary mid round caller when john was split from the team either anchoring his site or focusing on his lurk timings (which is why they chose him over pancada despite him having better mechanics) and even though this calling system was working quite well for them, them deciding to put john on initiators maybe feels like they are gonna be lacking that mid round caller like zellsis when he leaves the team Now there are plenty of other reasons as to why john is playing more initiators Maybe the players felt more comfortable in the role Maybe they think its better to have both john and zellsis calling who knows I just thought this was interesting to think about
