Wello Bello a lot patriotic songs aren't. Das Engelandlied is about leaving your lover behind as you go off to fight against England. Katyusha is about a girl crying waiting for her lover to return. the song doesn't need to be about your government it just needs to inspire soldiers to fight for something.

Luuk344 The mass rape probably happened, like what MANY other nations have done over the years INCLUDING CHINA (during and post ww2 against Japanese civilians) and KOREA (during Vietnam war) and USA (japan, Vietnam, Middle East, and many more to this day). They assume the people who died in China during that time are all killed by Japanese, when there was a civil war going on before they made a pact. The atrocities did happened, but the magnitude of it is a Chinese communist propaganda. It’s funny because the numbers always seems to raise every now and than lol. But that’s the same old “Chinese communist way” so it’s not that surprising at all. I’m not trying to run away from the fact, they did, and most of the Japanese do feel pity about it. But when you’re informed about something that has happened 70-80+ years ago CONSISTENTLY and PERSISTENTLY, than the people in Japan will get tired of it. The more Koreans and Chinese whine and cry about something that has happened few generations ago, the ultra-right wings and the politicians in Japan will utilize it as a good way to “recruit” idiots in order to rise nationalism. They are doing the same thing the Koreans and Chinese have done over the years (whenever they have political issues in their country, they scapegoat Japan for ww2 atrocities in order to change the focus of the topic), and its simply lame. This is why Westerns and practically no body gives a rats ass about Far East Situation, because it’s just three countries with historical complex issues bitching against each other.

It's tragic in a way, the shattering of a once-great military nation. They were truly a terrifying foe. I wonder how many Americans died with bloodcurdling howls of "TENNO HEIKA BANZAI!!!" in their ears and a katana in their gut. Did you know, at the battle of Saipan, _4300_ Japanese soldiers and civilians, many still wounded, some wielding fucking bamboo spears led a banzai charge and killed 650 Marines? They charged headfirst at American fortifications, straight into gunfire, and managed to kill 650. They didn't fuck around.
@MinecraftRick10 жыл бұрын
If only they hadn't gone insane. The comfort women, enslavement of koreans, and nanking, and all that. Then again, they would likely have beaten the Americans if Midway ended differently. The Japanese's only weak spot was technological weakness (oh god the irony). Other than that, they were probably downright horrifying in combat.
@unifiedasia569610 жыл бұрын
MinecraftRick I don't know what you mean by horrifying in combat. They were indeed fearsome to many. But if you meant they performed badly, this is not the case as the Japanese were able to overwhelm a British garrison at Singapore outnumbered 100,000 to 30,000 soldiers.

The Japanese Imperial Army were the mightiest we've ever faced. If se would have invaded their mainland the war could have lasted another 3 years or more if the Soviets stayed out of it. I believe though that we wouldn't have beaten Japan on their land easily... we would have lost more than triple of the casualties that we truly faced during the second world war. I respect Japan highly since they went toe to toe with the most powerful country in the world and didn't back down.

There was actually a plan for the invasion of the Japanese homeland. I believe it was called Operation Olympic. It was abandoned in favor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (Nagasaki was actually more of a test subject and to make it worse, Niigata was the original target) because had they gone through with Operation Olympic, many Americans AND Japanese (soldiers and civilians) would have died. But, it's also been proven that Hirohito was trying to get out of the war (telegraphs intercepted by Allied intelligence), but they had issues with Potsdam (which was a bit vague in what it wanted ; the concern was keeping the Emperor in his ceremonial role). Whether or not they had dropped the bombs, they were considering surrender if the USSR declared war on them (since many Russians wanted revenge for the Russo-Japanese War).

My one desire is that only the true Warriors that have been in battle.Those that have seen their Brothers die on combat only those who have paid the price inBlood Sweat Tears should be Allowed to post comments about any true Warrior. If you have not been then do not say anything about men who have been the pits and lived to tell about what they have seen heard done while fighting for their lives and those of their Brothers. If you haven't then shut the Hell Up. You haven't earned the right to say anything about True Warriors.

I side with only 2 countries in ww2. Finland and Japan
I don't see why it would be "too pessimistic", sounds plenty warlike enough to me.

That's kinda just militaries in general. Sure, You can hone a entire army to the finest points and employ something acode to a code of honor, But given the chance some people will go apeshit with their power.
