I was stationed in Japan in the 1970s. I loved these drumming exhibitions. You FELT the drums with your whole body. Pay attention to their legs. Could you hold that stance for more than a minute without your leg muscles cramping up? These drummers are athletes.

I took a class in Taiko drumming, and it is exhilarating and HARD. Every tiny movement is deliberate and conscious. To be there in person is thrilling, to be playing the drums is heavenly.

These Japanese drummers worked with sticks like with the Japanese Tanto short swords, too professionally, like real Japanese samurai, or practicing Kendo, Kenjutsu. Their work shows a great concentration, a battle cry with Chi energy. All stances and body positions correspond to classical Japanese martial arts schools (jutsu). Great job!
