SEO migration (really deep dive in this) 15. Link velocity These are the questions I haven't found the answer of and no one has created good content on this. Everyone just puts up a basic blog/video. If you create content on this then it would be really helpful for beginners in this industry.

One of the trickiest things for writers is doing excellent time to value and still enticing the reader to continue reading, boosting on page time. I agree that giving the answer to the query immediately serves both the user and Google but hooking them further so they keep reading is the gold. I like how you present your new explodingtopics pages. They are extremely readable, white space, easy on the eyes. Do you see any correlation to on page time to your top ranking pages?

Good question. It's always tough to look at a correlation between time on page to rankings. That's because each page target a different keyword. And each keyword is going to have a different avg time on page due to the topic, search intent etc.. So the only way to really compare properly would be to look at time on page for all 10 results in the SERPs. And see if the top results have a higher time on page than the results at the bottom. Would be amazing to see that. But also kind of tough as you'd need GA data from 10 different websites.

Hey Brian! Big fan. Love that you're back on KZbin. I've been reading your stuff for years now and it's made a huge impact on my work. Personally, I've found the combination of curated lists and bottom of the funnel keywords to be the best strategy in terms of traffic and user acquisition this year. The startup I work for has gotten a ton of traffic from targeting these high traffic, low competition niche keywords and building curated lists around them. Riding the wave of trending queries has been huge for us too. Last year, we snagged some featured snippet spots for some trending queries and still outrank big name publishers like TechCrunch, ARS Technica, and Wired UK-pretty cool for a content marketing team of one!

Thanks Brian, My question is the relationship between page ranking and domain ranking and how you can make general content about your industry and then have other that are laser focused on what you’re selling. I’m just afraid of Google misclassifying me somehow if my more “general” articles take off, but the ones I really need to rank for don’t. forbes puts related content links right after the first paragraph so if you answer it right away you'll probably click into the site rather than back

Bounce rate isn't a direct ranking factor. What Google *really* doesn't like is pogosticking: someone lands on your page, quickly bounces back to the SERPs, then clicks another result. So if you make the user happy, they usually will "bounce" in GA. But they won't go back to the SERPs again.

You're welcome, Vlad. I'd still create stats pages for reverse outreach. You may not get top tier journalists linking to you at first. But you can still pick up some links from smaller blogs etc. Which can give you a nice early boost.
