After watching your vlog channel for a few years and then expanding to your book channel, it’s been fun to see the ways that you’re making content for both channels at the same time during the day but it’s refreshing and enjoyable? It’s like being in two different group chats with the same person but the topics are completely different

been living in boston for the past two years! here are some recommendations - coolidge corner theatre. it's a bit more in the suburbs (still in boston accessible by transit), but it's a lovely local theatre in a very cute area with a nice bookstore (brookline booksmith), a creperie, and a few japanese specialty stores. - museum of fine arts and isabella stewart gardner museum! mfa is a lovely classic art museum, isabella stewart gardner is a bit more boston-specific - it's a small personal collection on the grounds of this gorgeous estate. - modern pastry! alternative to mike's pastry, definitely feels like more of a local spot. try the amaretto cake with a shot of espresso - that's my little treat every saturday morning. while you're on that street, duck into bricco salumeria. it's a cute little sandwich shop in an alley that sells fresh pasta and other italian goods. even if you don't buy anything, the layout is just so cool. in that area, i've also heard a lot of people recommend carmelina's italian restaurant - the italian food in the north end on the whole is absolutely worth checking out. - veggie galaxy!! as a fellow vegetarian, this is a must-try place in cambridge. classic american diner vibes with delicious, delicious food. this place is extremely popular among both vegetarians and meat eaters for a reason. while you're there, check out cheapo records and a few of the other cute shops in that area. - phinista is a wonderful little vietnamese cafe in fenway that i would highly recommend. grab a drink/eat there, then walk to the fens and sit by the river with a book. - harvard square is definitely worth a visit if you've never been. if you feel like it, catch a show at the sinclair! it's a cool space with generally inexpensive shows and its a great thing to do in the area. - get a breakfast sandwich at mike & patty's!! its a charming little (and i mean LITTLE) place located very close to downtown, but somehow it magically feels sequestered in this quiet, charming nook of the south end that feels like it hasn't been touched since the colonial period. grab your food and walk over to the boston common. sit by the lake and people-watch. unparalleled experience. - render coffee! located again in the quiet and picturesque south end, it's a townhouse renovated to be a coffee shop. sit in the sunroom or on the back porch and enjoy the quiet morning - farmer horse coffee is another coffee shop located very close to render. it's typically a bit more lively and has some nice eclectic decor - take a walk from the park street station down through boston common and onto commonwealth ave. my favorite walk - both the common and commonwealth ave are absolutely beautiful (maybe the most beautiful places in boston). the common is like a mini central park, and commonwealth ave is just lined with rows of the most beautiful townhouses. end your walk at the public library and check out the stunning bates hall. maybe even make a reservation in the tea room in the library if you so desire. - go shopping on newbury street, and eat at red white ramen. it's an all-vegan ramen shop that is just absolutely phenomenal. it's the real deal. okay that was a lot but that is literally everything i can think of. have a good trip!!

yay boston! I'm in the Cambridge/Somervill/Arlington side of things but I love living here so much - especially the walkability of everything. if you want a bit of hiking more in the city I would recommend middlesex fells or blue hills (just for a bit of a different kind of recommendation) . also definitely recommend toscanini's ice cream and asmara Eritrean restaurant in central, and then also just davis square in general has lots of fun food options and good vibes - including candlepin bowling!

You do give very strong Somerville vibes, so I can definitely see this move happening! 😀 MIT has a cool visual arts center thats very tech and multimedia (duh) focused. "Best" bookstore might be Brookline Booksmith or Harvard Bookstore, they both have a really good second-hand selection, but my personal favorite is Raven Used Books. I will say... the public transit definitely will not impress Kurt, so that might be a tough hurdle 💀

Hello! my advice as long time scone maker is to mix the batter as little as possible till they just come together and still crumbly . The more you mix they tougher/ dry they become. Also if you place them close together when baking they help each other rise and become fluffy. I always thought it was a great metaphor if we stick together we rise together hehe.

NYC is my favorite personally so I'm a bit biased. I loved Yellowface too--gave it 5 stars on Goodreads. I thought it was fascinating how she basically mirrored the Chinese workers' situation with what June did to Athena. Yet she did manage to make all the characters pretty relatable as well. I just started Babel now but I definitely intend to go onto Poppy War eventually (I mean, I need to--there's a book called Republic of Dragons, how could I pass that up?). Have a great weekend, Cari!

i think i've got kurt fully on board with nyc thankfully! and yes i love how she really came for everyone while still making it so realistic. scary that she didnt have to exaggerate anything for people to be villainous.

Boston book stores: Brookline Booksmith is a great bookstore, it’s also close to Kupel’s, which has great bagels and Jewish pastries, and Coolidge Corner Theater which is independent and does a lot of screenings of old/indie/cult films. Also of course Trident which doubles as a brunch place. And Harvard Book Store, Raven Used Books and Million Year Picnic are all in Harvard Sq. I live in Somerville so can give lots more recs!

Oh my God! Cari! So exciting that you might be coming to Boston. I've lived here my whole life. Some suggestions: Ogawa coffee shop in a newish Japanese coffee shop in Downtown, expensive but gorgeous lattes! 1369 coffee shop is also great and has two locations, I usually go for the Central square one as its close to Harvard. For bookstores I would recommend the Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge corner and Beacon Hill Books (look up videos, it's in a beautiful neighborhood). Ganko Ittetsu ramen also in Coolidge corner is great, as is Tora Japanese restaurant in chinatown for sashimi bowls, and Grendel's tavern in Harvard square is a really old tavern/restarant (I studied in Scotland and it has such a Scottish pub vibe). Definitely stop by the North end as well. I know you don't drink much, but there is a really cool speakeasy in the Seaport called 'Drink' where they have no menu, but will make something up on the spot according to your preferences. It's a long wait so I'd recommend getting there when they open. Lastly, if you have time, Providence is a great city too and only about an hour by train. Anyway! Hope you enjoy your time in the city! I hope someday you can do a meetup here!

So excited for you! I can’t believe you’ve been doing this alone for so long. And I second the idea of Boston as a great place to live. It’s pricey, but honestly, having grown up in MA and now living in LA, there are so many moments when I want to move back. CA is beautiful, but when I go back to visit my parents it does seem like things are just easier with getting around and finding a place to live compared to here.

Cari! Dear, you gotta have whipped cream with scones 😂 You just gotta. It's the rules 😅 Also they looked great and I LOVE Bonne Maman Jams and DREAM of finding those little jars because they are so stinkin' cute. Also Also, there is just something so satisfying about putting away the previous season's clothing or clearing out unwanted clothes to donate which is what I did today. It is honestly cathartic. Idk lol Anyway thanks for another great video, it's a Sunday ritual for me (usually while having my breakfast)

Very cool that there's an artist called Jenova and their work is in an exhibition about the impact of gaming on culture. Hope your leg feels better & congrats on getting new management!

Cari! Never turn the cookie cutter for scones as it prevents the rising! 😱😂 (made me really hungry though 💕)

I’m from Massachusetts, so very excited you’d consider living in Boston! It’s been a while but I enjoy browsing the Brookline Booksmith.

Go to Sarma Restaurant in Boston. It’s a tapas place and it’s AMAZING. My friend has been living there for years and always takes whoever visits her there.

Bostonian here! Beacon Hill Bookstore is an absolutely stunning bookstore you will love in the Beacon Hill area. Not the largest selection, but feels like you are transported into a highly aesthetic children’s book! Also, have you been to Salem? Great day trip from Boston on the commuter rail. Especially in the autumn 😍
