I have been obsessed with fantasy books for years now. So my book recommendations would be: 1. Books by Carissa Broadbent. She has “Crowns of Nyaxia” and “The war of Lost hearts” series. Both have spicy scenes, not as hot as in Blood and Ash series. However, I really enjoyed both series. 2. The Dance of thieves duology by Mary E. Pearson. I would say that the storyline concentrates a bit more on the plot rather than the love story. But it’s very engaging. 3. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross. The second part of the duology is planned to be released in December. There is almost no spice in this book, but the story is so beautiful and poetic. Since I’m from Ukraine, some of the war descriptions were a bit triggering, but it made the story and characters very relatable

Also, to start of the winter season: Katherine Arden's "Winternight Trilogy. It's sooo good. Then, if you like epic fantasy and crazy good world building I recommend Brandon Sanderson's "Mistborn" series. Enjoy!! ❤️❤️❤️

I loove the book content and that you take us to all those beautiful book stores. Especially the "sunset" one with wooden interior, its so cozy! And whenever I see Korean book covers, there's just something about them. Somehow they are like a mirror of nowadays general Korean aesthetic "trends" and the overall culture, especially the warm, down-to-earth, profound, creative, modern and cheerful sides of South Koreans. I bet its a bit obvious that book covers and the illustrations/ art on them always show a part of the country's culture that they are from, but its fascinating to see from an outsiders perspective.

The hanbok is so gorgeous 😍 Sissel in her book era🙌welcome in the book club🙌☺ When it comes to reviews and recommendations, I have a feeling that the 3/4 star ones are the most genuine one, of course some 5 star ones also seem very honest, but I often don't trust the 1 star ones, since a lot of time people are just so mean and didn't read the book with an open mind if someone gets what I mean...like of course, there are very few books, that don't even deserve 1 star...the most ideal is of course to have a wide range of reviews, so you can get a feeling about the book, but in the end, we all just read what we want anyways😅

On the book thing: For Caraval, the series behind UOABH, it is probably better to read it first as UOABH spoils the whole trilogy immediately. It's also harder to understand the magic system because you don't have the background knowledge from Caraval explaining it all. Also, Stephanie Garber's writing has improved so much from Caraval that if you end up really enjoying UOABH, going back to Caraval will end in disappointment. So I would recommend reading Caraval first, but you can follow UOABH without it

Reading is called a guilty pleasure, because it takes so much longer to read a book, than to watch a movie. You can read away hours at a time, stay up to the early morning trying to finish a book. My husband always hated me reading, since you are closed off to yourself and usually don't want to be disturbed. Like all things, need to set boundaries on reading. Having watched K-Dramas for years and see all the plots take place in neighborhoods and homes, is this just too expensive now to have a house? Or do you choose to be in a Apt? I don't care for the feel of that Apt., seemed cold, not homey.
@sisselab9 ай бұрын
I completely get what you mean! I mean, I’m sitting here at 5:30am about to read. Woke up early literally just to do that 🤣 but Jake actually likes it since he’ll game next to me so it’s kinda wholesome 💚 to answer your question, yes it’s extremely expensive to own a house here. Especially a good one. Families with average income saves up for half a lifetime before being able to buy, so many will just rent 💚

I highly agree with your thoughts on blood and ash.. I loved the first book, but all her thoughts get way too much in the following ones, so much that I could only skim-read through them. I would recommend the Cruel Prince series, it is not as spicy but I found the story very captivating and loooved the romance between the FMC and MMC, who is morally grey :) It starts a bit slow, but gets really good starting the second half of the first book.

The best book we've read this year was a psychological thriller called 'The Silent Patient' by Alex Michaelides, hands down the best book we've read this year, needs to be a Netflix movie or show. I can relate so much with what you said about reading. I think a lot of book nerds do 😊. When I read a good book, I just really can’t put it down, not wanting to work, meet people and reading through the night. It’s a bit obsessive 😅. But I love disappearing into good books. Maybe you want to check out „Three dark crowns“, by Kendare Blake. I only read the first one of the triology because my problem is starting book series and then not finishing them 😂😂, but it was really good! And yeah reading in public is some times … It happened to me several times that I actually let out a giggle when reading in public places like the train or bus stations. Always so embarrassing 🙈. That language class story is such a subtle yet very distinct expression of the priorities that Korea has as a society! It is also quite interesting to compare the examples I get in my Danish classes, which are SO different from yours. (Guess what - I see a lot of "at hygge sig" as an example haha) Of course, the content is biased with publishers' ideologies on foreigners and their imaginations on their lives in Korea, but no one questioning those examples shows that the logic, "I am happy because I lost weight and I have a date" works for them. Well, I must say I feel more comfortable saying jeg hygger mig med min kæreste og mine venner i weekend than jeg er glad, fordi jeg tabte mig og fordi jeg har en kæreste😅 Maybe it is your time Sissel, to introduce some more hygge examples to your korean teachers🕯 Love your book recommendations and also your stunning Hanbok - that shade of green suits you so well! I loved this vlog! I also came across the Machacha café online and I definitely put the address on my list of places I need to visit soon! Also, I loved your V-neck black top, where did you get it? Suits you so well!! Can't wait for the next vlog~

Yes read caraval before once upon a broken heart. In Once Upon a broken heart is a spoiler written about Caraval. And the main Character is part of Caraval and I think you can better understand him and like him more if you read Caraval before. You can get better in the story/world with caraval. I read Once Upon a broken heart first, because I didn't know that.

Happy Wednesday, Sissel!😊😎☀💙💙💙💙💙💙🇺🇸🌷🇰🇷💚💚💚💚💚💚🎇👍. Reading fantasy books is the best idea to see and study the facts. As for me, I love studying in class, at the library and at home.😊💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙👍. Well done!💚⭐💚⭐💚⭐💚⭐💚👍👍
