Separate Audio Outputs in OBS for Elgato Wave Link Software & Mics

This setup is for window users, but can easily be configured the same in OBS for Mac Users. I made this video to help others who are trying to have separate audio tracks, versus the Wave Link Stream where all audio inputs are consolidated to 1. This video is to help those who also want to separate the music from the Live stream and not be on their Twitch VOD files. I hope you all enjoy this video Thanks for watching!

You have to set them up as an audio output in obs, except the mic, that’s an audio input. hope that helps!

So set it up as per your video, changing the volumes for the stream side or headphones on wavelength doesn't seem to change the volume in OBS mixer. For music for example I did set spotify to Wave Link Music in windows volume mixer, selected that as a source in OBS. Muted both stream and headphones in wavelink and it still plays in OBS mixer and no volume to headset. Wondering what I did wrong?

OBS plugin controls the obs audio, wave link can't control obs, and obs can't control wave link. it's a setup on how to separate the audio in obs.

Very helpfull video thank you! The only thing what i cant figure out is that obs doesnt change the volumes from all my different channels ( I added them seperatly just as you did) when i change the stream volume in wavelink (right handles of each seperate Channel). But when i listen to it in wavelink and the output set in stream output they do. How can i make it so that works as well together because thats why i bought the streamdeck plus? Wave Link doesn’t control the audio in OBS. You can create the audio sources in OBS, and adjust the volume from OBS for your viewers with the OBS plugin. Wave Link is for your use. So you’d using the wave link plugin to control wave link audio. This is just to create the separate inputs and route them individually to OBS.

Thanks for the video! Bit frustrating that the sound you get through OBS this way is the full volume source instead of the volume controlled WaveLink source. I understand they want you to just use the WaveLink single output but that's not very useful for having scenes with only certain audio sources. Prefer the way voicemeeter does it but using both seems a bit redundant 😅

you still have to adjust the sliders in obs, and make sure you're streaming output in wavelink is the correct audio levels.

There is some great info in this video so I appreciate it but I'm having a few issues understanding some things. I stream so I have existing scenes, alerts, etc. that I want to make sure that they work. So how can I set it up to where my alerts will go through my wavelink so I can hear when someone follows me still? Also, how can I make it to where if I play a game on my nintendo switch that it is also connected to my wavelink as well as other games?

I personally have OBS routed to System, so all my alerts go to System, and System is my main for default. As for the Capture Card, I do it as it's own source in OBS rather than using wavelink for it. I have it at a fix volume level. As for doing it through Wave Link it would be the same as any of these inputs.

Yeah there is, in wave link, your monitor mix, you can mute the entire thing, or just mute the inputs for your, and leave the streams open. I do this when playing music for the streams via a lobby wait.

So ive been having an issue, all my dialouge audio in games (in reocordings and in streams) have a strange echo to them, and in addition, my mic seems to be very quiet. I think wave link is the issue. I am using a wave xlr with a elgato duo Help

So far, it seems only 1 sources comes through. I think people were hoping elgato would do audio sub mixes. This hasn’t happened yet. So not sure, but I think NDI may be a solution. 🤔😉

Can the Elgatto Wave link separate game chat volume inside of a game or can it only do things like separate Discord or the Xbox party chat?

No it can't, unless the game itself allows you to setup audio inputs. As for Xbox party chat, that's entire on console. You can route Discord to Voice Chat's input though.

You can choose between them. personally I setup everything in Wave Link, and just switch my monitoring device to either my headset or speakers.

So Wave Link is going to let you control majority of your apps on Windows, and Mac OS. For OBS if you want to have individual audio sources, then you want to create an audio output source for anything other than your Mic FX, Voicemod, or Capture Card as those are audio inputs, but Browser, Game, SFX, etc… Those are audio outputs in OBS. Then you’d tweak the audio levels in your OBS audio mixer via the sliders for your viewers, and you can listen through Wave Link. Maybe I should make a revision of this video.

that's if you're not doing split audio. this is for split audio and to have your music not in your twitch vod. you can use wave link stream if you're wanting 1 audio source for everything. :)

no, you can control both. Wavelink is controlling all audio, and Streamlabs should be controlling the sources in streamlabs. streamlabs will not control wavelink.

@@iLadyVicI'm having the same problem. seems like if I break up my audio channels like this then I lose control in to change them in wave link. monitor volumes still work in my headphones but if I change the stream volumes it doesn't effect the volumes of the related channel in OBS

you shouldn’t lose any control over individual wave link versus OBS audio outputs keep in mind they’re two separate software wave link isn’t gonna control the audio and OBS, and OBS does not control the audio and wave link. The reason why I did separate audio is so I can have it permanently set to the levels I want in OBS and then adjust for my own personal hearing in wave link. But I do have separate audio routed in OBS because I want to be able to control each individual thing routing into OBS.

This is simple, mute your stream mix wavelink system output if obs is setup to your wavelink system, Also, make sure your monitor mix isn’t muted so you hear it.

You can control the levels in Wavelink, but make sure to set up the sliders in OBS properly too. I had to lower my music, as it was too loud.

wavelength does not control. The audio levels in OBS, OBS is a separate application that has its own audio mixer and it’s an individual control set in OBS. You can control the audio levels in wave link for your own personal hearing, and separately set the audio in OBS to a fixed level. these apps do not control one another it’s a matter of just setting up the outputs OS so your stream can hear it and fix the audio there, and then using your monitor mix in Wavel for your own personal hearing.

So I've been using this ever since I found it, I have a new computer and imported OBS settings over but the switch music to track 2 so it doesn't show up in the VOD isn't working any more. I'm fairly certain I've changed nothing, and watching this again while browsing OBS confirms it... has anyone else had this issue? I just updated to OBS 29 and well, OBS loves breaking stuff. So....

Ok. I think I've got it. Maybe. I was listening to a song while recording and nothing shows up in the recording. I don't stream for a couple more days, I just finished for my week earlier today, so, damn me for putting it off again lol. Aaaaanyway. I wasn't linking system to elgato. I control my OBS audio directly in OBS, as the OBS sources can't control wavelink. I have my wavelink setup in different channels, that way I can separate audio in OBS> I'll recreate what Y'all are doing via Wavelink's mute, and see if I get the same result in a test rec.

Maybe you’re muting the monitor mix which is not going to obs, muting the stream mix icon under music will mute it in obs. But first make sure that in windows settings you routed the music output to Elgato wave music.

You’d select Mic FX or Voicemod if you’re using it as an audio input.

Would like to add for anyone doing a NDI/teleport Dual pc stream; you can add an NDI/teleport filter to those channels to output to your second pc. If you're like me and just want the separate mic channel in obs without going through wave link so you can keep game,browser,system, etc all on wave link's stream channel and not have to use more bitrate to transfer multiple channels at once.
