Brilliant Jason, thanks for the link. I love your way of explaining things and not too fast either. As a fairly new beginner, and an older guy (77), I only decided to try Resolve a few months ago. I have decided to buy Studio, it's an awesome piece of kit. Many thanks.

Jason, a very pragmatic approach to using some of the new audio tools. Thanks for the illustrations and reminder of the useful tools that DaVinci Resolve has on board. And as you say . . . Peace! 😉

Better idea, how about using OBS and multiple audio tracks. Record gameplay, mic, etc on separate tracks. You can make 6 tracks in total. I have everything combined on track 1, track 2 is same as track 1 except without optional music (VOD track on Twitch), Game audio on track 3, microphone on 4, discord friends on 5, and all other on track 6 ...
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
Agreed, that’s the better way to do it. But I get questions all the time from people who have everything recorded in one track, this is an option for them.
@JAMEYX2 ай бұрын
Pretty sure this is meant to help those who have already recorded and just have one track.
@FFVison2 ай бұрын
I was going to suggest this. General rule is to do as much heavy lifting prior to it ever hitting Resolve. Case in point, is the scene you are trying to work with properly lit or has proper audio recording. Sure, these can be, if you excuse the pun, Resolved in post, but it will be more work and generally harder to get a good result.

Excellent info Jason. I record seperate audio tracks which is obviously the best and easiest way to go, but it's handy to know how to do this anyway.

I haven't bought studio yet, but on that note, it is indeed a one time purchase. From what I have read, the license allows for the app to be installed on 2 different machines at the same time and if your one computer gets a little old and doesn't run nearly as well as the new shiny one you got your eye on, the license is transferrable from one machine to another, so it can be removed from the old one and installed on a new one, no additional purchase required.
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
Yes, you are correct. Studio cost a one time price, for all future updates. You get two licenses that you can move around to different computers at any time. You can use it on Mac or PC, it doesn’t matter.

Excellent video! For those of us who don't have the studio version, is there still a way to remove the background audio to hear your just your vocals without the voice isolation?
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
Voice isolation is going to do the best job. There really isn't another tool in Resolve that will do the same thing. If you want a cheaper alternative, you can use the Waves Clarity VX plugin. You can usually get it on sale for 39.99 or so and it does the same thing as Voice Isolation. I've got some videos on it if you want to check it out. Here's a link to Clarity VX: waves.alzt.net/oqxM1o

Finally some love to gaming creators from Jason ! (but 99% of game recording software can output separate game and microphone tracks today..)
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
Yeah! I still get questions often on how to separate it all out. Maybe some people don't know about the new ways to do it. 😜 What other types of things would be helpful for gamers to learn?

@@JasonYadlovski how to export fast motion gaming content in davinci resolve or how to compress both gaming and mic audio tracks into a perfect loudness for youtube.

Great video Jason. I have an interview - its two cyclists riding side by side, however there is another cyclist talking in the background. I;m on Studio version however I;m struggling to reduce/remove the voice in the background. Is it possible? Thanks Mike
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
I'd try using a little bit of Voice isolation, to see if it will help a little. I'd also try using the expander in the dynamics panel and see if that helps a bit.
@CyclingInTheAlps2 ай бұрын
@@JasonYadlovski Thanks Jason much appreciated. I;ve just upgraded to Studio and did try voice isolation however even playing with the levels I could still hear the guy in the background. I;ll look at the expander - I'm just working my way through your intro to Fairlight at the suggestion of @mralextech Thanks again Mike
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
Studio is great! Glad you upgraded. Since it's another person talking in the background, it might be pretty tough to actually remove it. Hopefully the expander will help a bit in combination with some noise reduction.

Is there a way to backdate Davinci Resolve to an older version ? we were prompted to update to 19. Then everything stopped working. Davinci Resolve will no longer load up. How to backdate to older version ? We tried to reinstall an older version EXE, but when computer rebooted, 19 still came up and would not load at all, GPU Configuration Warning DaVinci Resolve is using OpenCL for image processing because the installed NVIDIA driver does not support CUDA 12.3. Upgrade your NVIDIA driver for optimal performance. Alternatively you can manually select OpenCL processing mode to run in the current configuration. (quit) (Update Configuration) Both options (quit) + (Update Configuration) do nothing. One closes the application, other takes you to a window where you can click (save) but nothing still works & nothing opens, it just closes and you have ZERO davinci Resolve. Unable to access the projects we had before that we were working on in the previous versions because the 19 version crash the entire Davinci Resolve to now a dead program that no longer works. Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?
@JasonYadlovskiАй бұрын
You should be able to download an older version from the BMD support page and install that. Assuming you didn’t update all the projects when prompted to.
