Mistakes! Everybody makes them, it can’t be helped, I booked a hotel in London that I’d been to before but i couldn’t find it and walked for a few mile the wrong way I, wasn’t feeling to good and I want back to my starting place and I found it, I went to bed really early but was still not good the next day but getting lost made me feel 10 times worse, I was going to go home but stayed and now all forgotten and I’m glad I stayed as what I was taking part in May never happen again.

But look how you resolved the situation, you explained it to the kiddo and apologised, that’s all you can do! As humans we have the right to make mistakes, but the responsibility is to learn from those mistakes so we can grow. One thing I’ve seen about Americans in European countries, is they say the shops close a lot earlier than in the US, and yea lots of things are closed on Sundays! The washing machine is in the kitchen, and there will be so much more for you to see!

A stressful experience but… Kendra, you managed to get yourself and all 5 kids safely to the Airbnb! In a new country! You did it! Knowing you managed this will be so helpful for the rest of your journey. The kids have seen you manage and they have learned more about independence and coping strategies. Well done 👍 💕 Jeremy arriving just one hour later was actually fantastic, considering you were travelling between two countries and into Paris. It could have been a week later in some remote area of the world! All in all you all managed this brilliantly!

Why didn't kendra and the kids just wait for Jeremy in the connecting train?

Do you mean at the train station? They were on the train but he didn’t arrive.The cost of train tickets for the whole family was probably prohibitive so they had to travel and go when they could I’m guessing.

It’s a good question. We didn’t have tickets on another train, and at the time we didn’t know what other trains would get there. When we did find another option, it didn’t get to Paris until 10pm and we didn’t know if we would be able to get all our fam out to the farm stay and we didn’t want to be walking around Paris with 5 kids late at night searching for lodging. It was an extremely busy weekend (tour de France) and we arrived on a Sat night. All of the hotels/hostels I checked were full. I had to get further out of Paris to find a place to stay. Anyway logistics get quite complicated with 7 (5 kids) and when we already had tickets and lodging in place when going to a new country in a different language, we just had the rest of the fam stick with the original plan. Thanks for asking.
