(Although if being a typical leftist for you includes not giving my money for a good cause, than apparently I am not one.) But do you understand some of the issues at play here? Let´s start with the term "illegal immigrant", which makes it far to easy to dehumanise them. "Illegal" comes first, and something like "person" or "human" comes... never. And immigrant is seen as a negative word as well these days. (Also dehumanising is something the current administration in the US really likes doing appearently) Second, what policies need to be fixed? How about not tearing families apart. I know it is indended as a deterrent for future immigrants, but if that is what your government has to resort to, than there are far worse problems at play here. Thirdly, would you hold other rich people to the same standard of supporting charities, maybe more specifically ones they stand behind politically? (although some things shouldn´t even be so politiciesed.) Would you hold any millionair or any person with more than they need to the same standard? And my last point for now: when you say illegal immigrant, remember that what is illegal and what is not is defined by the law. What is a law? I would define it as a tool a state uses to keep order and justice within their people and others. That means laws are (obviously) made by people. And as people we are unable to create anything that is perfect. Because of that, our laws will never be perfect. And also, they are arbitrary. And also state broders are even more arbitrary. They are all just tools, important tools, yes, but maybe it is time to open your toolbox and have a closer look of which ones are broken.

That is in fact an unspeakable low point ... because such little children can get psychologically harmed for life when taken away from their parents !! The first 5 years are very very vulnerable years !! Of course that is a threat for every underaged child ! But at such young age the likelyhood for developing e.g. an attachment disorder or even personality disorders, which are very difficult to treat (and other disorders) are higher - and those are highly likely to be irreversible (when developed at such young age). More sadly your country doesn't even provide health care in those cases (later on). Untreated, the rate of suicides among children that develop such a difficult disorder, is high. Also the likelyhood of getting drug addicted (which is understandable when you know the symptoms) which leads to crime and so on ...

I think the story about detaining children proves that some people are just hypocrites. How come they just care about the rights of a child when it's in the womb but not when it's out. Dear americans, next time you mindlessly chant "USA! USA!" and say how great democracy is, and how great YOUR democracy is. Next time you point the finger at ANY country and say the words "human rights". I'm saying it out of concern for you guys, because I know how nationalist you are, how prideful, and 1930 Germany taught us just how bad things can get when you humiliate another country intentionally. This should not happen again, to any country, let alone to the USA. But I'm not pandering to you, I'm not mincing my words or sugarcoating them. Should you fail to do so. Should you stick religiously to your system and not question how to evolve it or improve it, then you're inevitably going to eat dirt for generations to come. Chances are, the path for this is already set and it's already gonna happen, but I have no crystal ball and I can't say for sure. The Taken reference is really interesting. In the movie the guy goes berserk and does a lot of damage to get his daughter back. But people in the US just expect this act of terrorism to go unpunished. Taking the children away for basically forever (won't be reunited due to identification) is terrorism. It was meant to intimidate people. Those children and parents went through a terrible trauma. A lot of people including Trump should go to jail for this atrocity.

Can we appreciate the guy who immediately called out Lewandowski for making fun of a child in distress? Children, especially ones with conditions like down syndrome and autism, have difficulties adjusting to new environments and situations. Imagine that you are a child, in an unfamiliar country, and your family has been taken from you. That's terrifying. And say what you want about the parents being "criminals", but no matter which way you look at it, it's not the child's fault. Do not punish the children and do not LAUGH at their horrible situation. 4:20 the most harrowing thing was a news report i saw on this a while back - where they interviewed a parent whose kid ended up back with her after time in this detention center. And you could hear the kid crying in the back, the mom saying that he often wakes up at night crying and asking her if "she'll leave him again" or something to that effect. As adults, or even teens we're pretty independent, so we forget just how dependent we are on our family and relatives as young children to ground our reality and sense of belonging and self.
