Take into account a normal human can dent a rocket launcher, there's nothing in the lore saying that this one was made of any special material. Also "The sword is said to be able to cut through anything" would mean that's more of a rumor due to it just being claims instead of actual facts, in the end it's just a sharper katana imbued with magic that enables it to cut through the fabric of space which means in the end it could theoretically cut through anything if the user is strong enough.

Actually, if you ask me, there's a probable trick to this Yamato. One that you should take a look at in Devil May Cry 3, when Virgil goes to cut Jester, the best words used, "Whew! That was a close one! You would've cut me into ribbons if you were in tip-top condition." Which means, in order to ACTUALLY cut through anything, Virgil has to have the physique and deep concentration to do so.

Dante's sword and Lady's rocket launcher were the only two things in Devil May Cry cutscenes Yamato did not cut through. You guys didn't look into WHY it can't/didn't cut through them. The reason why it can't cut through Dante's sword is because Rebellion is a physical manifestation of his demonic powers. It will never break as long as Dante is alive making it COMPLETELY unbreakable. The reason why it didn't cut through Lady's rocket launcher is because he wasn't trying to kill Lady. Vergil was fighting Dante but then Lady jumped in front of him. Vergil had like several opportunities to kill Lady the entire game. He could've ended her if he wanted to. Sephiroth's sword doesn't have any mystical properties like Rebellion and since Vergil is trying to kill Sephiroth, Yamato should be able to cut through Sephiroth's sword.

Then what about the demon in DMC3? When it got stuck? Like “I can’t move it” stuck And “he didn’t want to cut through it” is such a crap argument and I adore Vergil. It can cut through anything. There is no on/off switch. If it can cut anything then no amount of restraint could logically stop it

Sephiroth 's sword was never stated to be unbreakable. In Devil May Cry 4, Yamato was able to pierce through Nero's demonic arm: devil bringer which was stated to be an indestructible devil arm and Vergil was not even the one wielding it.

All Videos that let Vergil fight against Sephiroth do the same mistake regarding the speed. Sephiroth NEVER fought with enemys that come even close to Vergils speed so you made that point up so that the end makes sense....but it doesnt. Also Cloud (who is clearly slower then Sephiroth) beat him twice. This also negates the point that Sephiroth can heal limitless because his magic pool has no limit. If that where the case Sephiroth would never have lost in the first place. Fact: 1.)Sephiroth CANT heal fatal wounds fast as he should. 2.)Sephiroths speed is inferior to Vergil. Conclusion: Vergil can cut Sephiroths head off clean and thats the end of the battle. In the fight Vergil didnt even go for vital points instantly. Vergil is ruthless in that regard and he will use every single opening to end the fight as fast as possible.And that was shown plenty of times in the series. He isnt Dante who goes all flashy and funny.

THIS FIGHT DIDNT HAPPEN IN THE FF UNIVERSE SO THERE IS NO INSTA LOCK ON You cant cast slow,stop or anything on someone you cant hit. Now to powering up: 1.) Shell spell is worthless because Vergil uses no magic at all. 2.) How many times do you want to cast haste to get Vergils speed in DT ? Vergil in human form is already multiple times faster then Sephiroth and Vergil wont let you keep casting it. 3.) Magic Wall.....he cuts dimensions. Sephiroth CANT heal fatal injuries because he already got killed twice AFTER entering the lifestream. There is no room for argumentation here. Again this fight is not held within the FF universe and its rules. So there is no "i cast my spell and it will hit you". This was a match on fair and neutral ground. Nothing to be butthurt about but when given the proper research Vergil should've won this battle. Sephiroth makes a better villain but Vergil makes a better duelist/fighter. Don't debate-harass-flame without any proper opinion.

You are funny. And you forget that Sephiroth has in fact shown various speed feats that you can't even realize/comprehend. Power/a strike's/attack's power equals to mass x speed. And since Sephiroth does not have more than a normal person's mass, it means that his speed is actually insane. To be noted as well Sephiroth is currently god-like and even stronger than the last battle for FF7 in which he was "Safer Sephiroth" -Seraphim Sephiroth. Which is the highest/most powerful form of an Angel. And now he is even stronger because he merged with the planet's lifestream. Sephiroth in his Safer/Seraphim form was able to multiple times cast super nova. A supernova releases an energy/power equal to-up to 10 billion years worth of energy/power created from a Sun. And I am pretty sure that's also hotter than the hottest "hell". And fun fact Sephiroth is currently even stronger than that. Sephiroth additionally has multiple magic-MASTERED/MAXED OUT magic at his disposal and basically an infinite amount of mana/magical pool. Then you might ask "Well then how is Cloud able to stop him/win" and the answer is, Cloud shouldn't be able to win by any means. He only wins because plot armor/story/script. Plus Sephiroth never gone all out, he is just playing around.

They also say that force edge wouldn't be able to help in battle. Excuse me?? force edge is the reason he can summon swords in the first place he can manipulate it in a material form,he can also wield two blades at once in his move set. So since cloud was able to kill Sephiroth using multiple attacks at once im pretty sure Vergil is far more capable.

Force Edge doesn't have anything to do with him summoning swords, what are you talking about? Vergil summons swords as Nelo Angelo as well and he summons swords in both his first and second boss battle in DMC3 when you play on hard difficulty and upwards.

There were 7 issues I had with this analysis and explanation. 1. Problem with the rocket launcher cutscene: You have to assume Vergil was trying to cut through her, which I'd imagine that Beowulf's ground crushing demonic bones wouldn't have been cut through like butter, but Vergil did. Also don't forget story plot armor that playd into lady not dying. Let's not forget these choreography and writing issues 2. Tachyon field comparison: That is constantly running energy that works on contact, not a magical blade with unrivaled sharpness (save for blades from the same family) 3. Mind Control and Illusions are different. Vergil had succumb to his lust for power by a guy that was basically Satan, and thus fell prey to mind games. Not simple illusions, shown by his escape from that other guy's illusions that were actually more personal. 4.Supernova: A character's personality plays a lot into their fights and that super panicked version of Vergil that faced Supernova is out of character, and also even when people get teleported, Supernova isn't instantaneous. 5. Interpretation clumping: You guys gave Sephiroth access to the Supernova but that takes a specific form under a specific circumstance, and his dissidia uses are for cool's sake. 6. Terrible, offhand comparisons: Angeal and Genesis are nowhere near Vergil's speed and so your "similar speeds" thing was just awful. 7. You also used two different units of measure for their strength feats. Kind of a problem. 8. Consistency: You guys cited Superman being invulnerable to all physical, natural force and energy but forgot to remember that "Writers are crazy" and that Superman has had multiple interpretations which some show him not to be invulnerable to even trauma based damage. Yet here you avoid the writing

Genesis is faster than Bahamut Fury, who was calculated using in-game feats to be faster than light. So...you're wrong. Sephiroth also has complete access to everything he's ever been able to do and then some as of Advent Children. Series creators confirm he's far stronger than he had ever been previously.

Lets not forget that vergil never used his full speed in game, the only time he got close was at the very last fight when he did an attack where he moves so fast that he couldnt be seen for a good 10 seconds, all you saw were his dimensional slashes he mad. The only reason dante could avoid them realistically is because its a game and that would be unfair. But in reality vergil would have wiped the floor with dante because of this speed advantage. Dante only won because vergil wasn't focused on the fight, only power.

Hewie666 thank you for mentioning that. Also I wanna include that in his charge up to do the move he is wrapped in demonic energy making him invulnerable to all attacks as nothing you can do to him in that sphere does any damage. But of course this canon move is left out of the video.

Well adamantium could essentially cut through anything but will stop at say hulks skin unless enough force is applied as shown in a comic. The same could be said for Vergil. Not only was he in a weakened state but his intention was never to out right kill lady or he would’ve done it as shown by how easily he overpowered her. Oh and the fact that it doesn’t cut through Dante’s sword is also flawed since rebellion is a physical manifestation of his soul, meaning it will only be broken if Dante were to die.

After the second fight, Lady get between the fight of Dante and Vergil, he attacks her and she defends herself with the rocketlaucher...he probably didnt want to kill her(he is way faster then any human can react), but later Jester(Arkham) says that he is to weak, reason why when Vergil attack Jester he easily defend it, but is said that if Vergil was at 100% he would finish Jester with a single cut(turn him into confetti as Jester say)

What... That's a perfectly good argument... If he didn't want to kill her, why would he use the power of Yamato to do it? As well, the way the sword does seem to work, is that you have to want to cut through "anything". It's not something that is simply on forever. Not like he walks around cutting buildings or through dimensions with every swing(which the sword can do).

So vergil didn't want to kill the demon at the end of dmc3 and that's why the sword got stuck in him..... but then in like 1 sec he changed his mind and decided "you know what I now want to kill you" so he slammed his palm into the sword to send it through...... ^ this makes no sense.

another thing they got wrong, in dmc3 force edge is already in hell, the sword just had spardas power in it and arkham and Vergil were trying to obtain it. With arkham manipulating Dante and Vergil to fight eachother Arkham got them when they were already fatigued, Arkham took advantage and took the force edge. In dmc3 they opened hell with temnigru, using spardas blood the amulets and a blood of an innocent priestess. In dmc4 the order had to use spardas weapon and yamato to power The Savior. But Dante used yamato from a mile away and cut a monolith with one slash.

Actually they only needed one of Sparda's bloodline to power The Savior, that's what Nero was for. They originally wanted Dante, but decided on Nero when it became difficulty. This is explicitly said in the game. Santus using the Sparda sword is entirely a bonus because Trish wanted to get in Santus good graces and Dante decided it would be fun to spice things up.

All i got from this is that you guys were confused by Sephiroth's powers and had to just kinda wing it. I haven't played FFVII in a while but me and a lot of people are saying that Supernova couldn't have been used in that form. As for Virgil removing the Force Edge is kind of a weird choice. Yeah he only had the weapon for a few hours but he actually had Beowolf for a shorter time before the tower was rising and he dropped them. But he always had those weapons in DMC3, DMC4 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3. For some reason illusions played a big role in this fight because of his Nelo Angelo form. In the first Devil May Cry he didn't fall to an illusion, the whole thing must have been mind control. You talked a lot about his speed and reaction but for some reason during Supernova he didn't have the reaction speed to teleport out of that dimension. There's also his healing factor that you downplayed. In DMC3 when Vergil had his rematch with Dante he has been cutting himself in order to open the gate to hell, then he fought Arkham after having a rough fight against Dante and then he was chopped in half and still immediately recovered. Now he got burned up and was chopped in half. Cool.

Even though there is the line in the HP books (Goblet of Fire, IIRC) about Avada Kedavra being instantaneous and unblockable, it still has to be a beam of energy/light that has to travel to the target. When Harry and Voldy's wands connect it's specifically stated that the spells hit each other in midair.

Vergil utilizes an ability called Judgement Cut in which he swings so fast that Yamato doesn't appear to even leave its sheath. It creates a distortion in space that engulfs his target which is sliced multiple times by the blade in very rapid succession. The ability is capable of hitting any enemies that are within the rather large distortion radius. Dante attempts to imitate this move in Devil May Cry 4 and the result is a similar ability called Slash Dimension but it lacks the precision and potency of Judgement Cut due to Dante's inexperience with wielding Yamato, unlike Vergil. Both abilities are able to strike far away opponents. Dante and Vergil demonstrate Yamato's ability to cut far away enemies with normal swings as well. The graphic novel, Devil May Cry 4: Deadly Fortune, also clarifies Dante's feats with Yamato as only a fraction of what Vergil could achieve as he considers his moves as "half-assed imitations" . Note that in the novel, Dante also uses a long distance Dimension Cut on the back blue crystal of "The Saviour"

Regardless of what you think the difference is, they plainly said in the measuring vergil podcast that they wouldnt use any version of seph from kh and dissidia isnt canon either which is the problem

They still never answered how sephiroth could keep up with vergil's speed, or how his healing abilities are "broken" even though he was killed by omnislash, an attack that I'm sure everybody would agree is far weaker than judgement cut end

Bahamut Fury is FTL+, who was beaten 1v1 by Zack, who was stomped by Sephiroth. I assume the argument is that either Zack has FTL+ combat speed / reactions or he can tank FTL+ velocity attacks, and since Sephiroth scales above him, he likely can do one of those things as well. Hence either nothing Vergil can throw at him will hurt him or he's waaaay faster than Vergil.

In Devil May Cry 4; Special Edition, Vergil mastered the art of dual wielding both yamato and force edge. The force edge alone, even not at full strength, has it's own skills and abilities which he learned in Devil May Cry 4; Special Edition; Helm Breaker, Stinger, Million Stab, round trip, drive and over drive. I mean, I have nothing against Vergil losing this kind of battle. But come on, I mean it's like you're trying to make sure he loses. If you're gonna set up a Fight like this, then atleast have him at his greatest known potential, weather it leads to Victory or Defeat for Vergil.

Sidious would cream Voldemort Old canon: Sidious is god tier. He can bust ravage entire planets with lightning, teleport himself and other people to anywhere from anywhere, and was ultimately only destroyed by his only lightning when he was momentarily cut off from the force. New Canon: Sidious can only be taken by surprise by someone like Vader where he believes he's a loyal servant and that servant is really good at masking their intentions (Voldemort isn't if Harry's accounts in the books are anything to go by. Can mask exact reasons, but not his intent) beyond that, he can't be taken by surprise unless you literally fly up in the death star and blow up his planet immediately upon arrival. How do I know this? In "Lords of the Sith" (which is part of Disney canon) he allows a star destroyer to get scrapped by Rylothian rebels and for him and Vader to get stranded on the harsh planet with no comms just to test if Vader is a) able to abandon his past and b) loyal in spite of being Sith. He can see the rebel plot about to unfold, knows that a shuttle is going to be destroyed during a short battle but the bridge will be unharmed and chooses not to evacuate and even brings a second shuttle, is able to sense the massive and elaborate cave system of Ryloth so he can lead Vader to the Lylek Queen, knows about a remote village of runaway slaves before Vader asks a stray villager to lead them to it (which is another example of Vader masking his intentions from his master's near omniscience) Battle power: while holding back, burned through Lyleks (which are above Krayt dragons on the food chain) by blasting them with lightning, avoiding all of their attacks while Vader occasionally takes hits (Vader is about where he was in Rogue One in power in this book) and cuts them up. Vader realizes that even though this is way ahead of him in strength it's only a fraction of his master's power and that Sidious is trying to test his strength. He deflects attacks from V-wings and brings them down with lightning. I know I'm using a lot of feats from one source, but from what we saw in Clone Wars, Rebels, and the Last Jedi (assuming Snoke is comparable to Sidious) none of these are outliers. He is fast enough and powerful enough to know where Voldemort is at all times, what his next move is at all times, and where he is even if he disapparates or goes invisible. What 'bout avaada Kadavra? In the books it's a beam struggle when they use spells at the same time. Given how often that happens, there's probably a big enough margin of error to assume it's not instant, just really goddamn fast. There are also limits to AK because Voldemort fights 3 Order members at once without using it and there's no reason not to so... either there's a concentration requirement, a cooldown limit, or an activation time. We'll get to that later. What 'bout legilimens? Sidious' mental willpower in old canon and new is god tier. The only non Vader threat to slip under his radar were the ewoks, and that wasn't because of their power, but their lack of power. If they'd been twi'leks or higher he would have been able to notice the threat they posed and the death star would have been safe. Other than that, Sidious is shown in every canonical instance to plot out entire battles as if he knows literally every move that will be made. Voldemort is only human. Magic is great, but it doesn't increase his speed, strength, durability, reaction time, or mental willpower at all. Any padawan would be able to outmaneuver him. The only hope he'd have against any force user would be to hope they try to deflect AK instead of dodging it, and that's assuming lightsabers wouldn't stop it. Sidious curb stomps this even in new canon.

As for the reason for the sword being called "Yamato," it is a combination of 2 Japanese words. The word "to" in this case refers to a short sword, about the size of a dagger, and "yama" means "mountain." So, the literal translation of "Yamato" is "Mountain Dagger."

Kingslyking The First It’s not NLF Since NLF is a Fallacy itself anyway. Lol that’s the sword hax. It bypasses power and stats and everything is normal to it. However it’s full of magic and the wielder must have high demonic energy to unleash Yamato hax power by cutting through reality and anything, It also has nullification powers, however that’s more explored in the Reboot and MVC. Pre-Dmc2 is a good example despite the massive difference in power parallel Vergil was able to put up a fight against Base Dante who surpassed Sparda power due to the hax of Yamato. In this case the way the fight went in the DB. Vergil should’ve won the moment he had Sephiroth leaking. Sephiroth also doesn’t have anything to counter the hax and power of it. I don’t agree with how Seph won, but it’s not like he couldn’t have won anyway. He just could’ve transmuted Vergil to stone in the end and chopped him. Vergil has no resistance to transmutation.

But did not do the same for Vergil...on top of not only not letting him use all his abilities and arsenal.... They used one cutscene from the Kingdom Hearts series, and did not include any of his feats or abilities exclusive to those games. Dissidia's canonicity is questionable, but at the same time it's not necessarily non-canon as it was created and made by the same developer as the Final Fantasy games, and they haven't said anything about it. However, it heavily involves much of the canon facts and abilities of the characters involved, so using information from it helps. Also, please remember that full-on gameplay mechanics do not work as feats unless the story itself directly implies, references, or otherwise addresses it, so permanent Devil Trigger would not count uness it is able to slip in as even a "maybe." There is no evidence of this at all in any part of Devil May Cry.

It’s hard to say on Palpatine vs Voldemort because the force probably has more actual strength but magic has a lot more versatility. In the same sense Palpatine has a significant melee advantage and is agile, but Voldemort using the sort of death eater teleport thing gets a lot more mobility.

If you look at Vergils opening in dmc3 he cuts through one of the demons weapon, the material is way stronger then a common rocket launcher. It has magic in it, so it could probably not even brake. Until yamato gave it a high five and it broke in half.

Tifa never went toe to toe with Seph, even with Materia. She got stomped by a single Remnant of Sephiroth. Had Tifa been given all of her Materia, she would have handily beaten Yang. Vergil is only as strong as DMC 1 and 3 Dante. Dante at his peak, where he could defeat Bayo, is way above Vergil.

to both of these; I think Jubileus would lose that one, as it was defeated by Bayonetta, who doesn't quite compare to Asura. I don't believe Xehanort has access to any holy weapons, so that's an automatic disadvantage against Ganondorf. Not to say he couldn't win, but he would be very hard-pressed to actually kill Ganondorf. Infinite Magic on Ganondorf's part is pretty ridiculous too. That being said, I think Xehanort has the overall speed and power advantage here. Tough call, really.

Force Edge was not the sword used to open the portal between Demonic Realm and Earth. It was the sword where the Sparda's power was sealed and kept in the Demonic Realm. I think that Yamato can cut through everything, if you know how to use it. It's true that in the game and in some cutscenes this does not happening. But in other it does, like the cutscene in Devil May Cry 4 when Dante obtains Yamato and slice one of the Black Hell Gate in half. So my opinion is that the power that cuts through everything is real, it is the choice of the handler of Yamato to use it or not.

I don't know if anyone's addressed this, but in the fourth book Harry doesn't -fully- fight off the imperius curse, but he does resist it and screw it up so he doesn't do the thing he was being ordered to do. (He was ordered to jump on a desk, he kinda half jumped and fell over.) I think it would be possible for Palpatine to resist it

I like how they take dmc gameplay over what weapons description says which is fair enough. But they completely ignore the fact sephiroth can only use supernova at the centre of the planet due to the high levels of mako required and has to be in his safer form proven by ff7 gameplay which in the deathbattle he had none of them, but you know biased.

His time in the Lifestream has given him the ability to use magic naturally and at the scale at which he can use it is unprecedented, like being able to summon a storm with just the flick of a hand Also, the Black Materia summons _Meteor_ , not Supernova. They're two different things. Supernova is cast under his own power.

Imperius curse was fought off in the Goblet of Fire book, when "Moody" was teaching the students the Unforgivable Curses practically (aside from the killing curse, can't exactly practice that on students) in Defense Against the Dark Arts

Sephiroth had three other factors which I believe would have given him victory even if the illusions + supernova tactic had failed. 1.Heartless Angel. This is a special attack that reduces the enemies HP to 1. Yes Vergil would have started to regenerate immediately, but healing himself from one strike short of death would have severly taxed his healing ability. And he would have needed time to heal after so that a single strike from Sephiroth wouldn't immediately kill him. Even if that time was as short as 10 seconds that is still a long time in the middle of combat against someone as fast as Sephiroth. And Sephiroth would have been trying his best to end him then because he new he would be at his most vulnerably. 2. Status Effects Sephiroth in both his Bizarro Form and Safer Form can inflict a large variety of status effects on his enemies with his attacks.These include poison, slow, stop, sadness, frog, small, paralyze, darkness, petrify, confusion, and silence. Other than sadness (which affects how fast the limit break bar fills) any one of these status affects would have made Vergil"s fight more difficult, a combination of several would have made it virtually impossible. And no his regeneration would not have made him immune to these. How do I know this? Because Regen is a spell that you can cast on your characters in the game that causes them to to quickly start to regenerate hit points. And those that are affected by the regen spell are not immune to status effects. Also almost every boss in the game is vulnerable to one or more status affects, even Sephiroth's strongest form Safer Sephiroth. If they are vulnerable why not Vergil. 3. Transformation Time Limit Vergil can not remain in devil trigger form indefinitely. It has a time limit and when he reaches the end of it he transforms back. Sephiroth's transformations have no time limit. When he transforms into Bizarro form, he stays in that form until he willingly transforms back or he is defeated. After Bizzaro is defeated he transforms into Safer form and stays in that form until he willingly transforms back or is defeated. Just one of these factors would have been difficult for Vergil to overcome. All of them together would have been impossible.

One of the things to keep in mind for Voldemort vs Palpatine, is the sheer versatility of spells vs the rather straight forward functions of the force. Not all of the methods that Voldemort could use to kill the emperor would need to involve a color light flying at the enemy.

Screwattack If you see the comments you can see there are a lot of unhappy fans about the decisions made with this death battle. I know you guys can do rematches since GokuVSuperman has 2 different battles. And the Force Edge could have changed the outcome of the battle. Not to mention in the actual game in DMC3 in the same scene you guys reference where Vergil couldn't cut Lady's rocket and then he goes to cut Jester, Jester Literally explains that if Vergil was at a 100% strength he would have killed Jester. Meaning that that could also be why he couldn't cut Lady's rocket launcher because he just finished fighting DANTE. Look please all I ask is a rematch where you don't nitpick the weapons/powers/facts you guys want but you see everything and consider everything. Please all I ask a rematch Vergil VS. Sephiroth part 2!!!

My counter arguments would be: Vergil should still have force edge because it's another tool in his belt. For Vergil attacking with 3 different weapons back to back is easy and it makes it that much harder for the opponent, even if it's not the full Force Edge it's still deadly in the hands of Vergil. For Sephiroth he should have only got the FF7 universe cannon, Dissida and KH aren't cannon. All FF characters in KH are alternate dimension versions, same with Dissida until SE says otherwise. This means that Sephiroth can only use Supernova in Safer form and he can only use Safer form in Gaia(the heart of the lifestream). He simply doesn't have enough power outside of that place. Otherwise why would he go through the trouble of getting the black materia? He could just go around hitting whatever with Supernova's.
