When I first saw the place when I was 16, summer of 1966, I wanted to live in Millbourne.

Wow, the infamous M3 Almond Joy's, Hot 🔥 Damn, I've been a passenger of those trains since the 70s, they'd rock you to death, but fun to ride!!! I grew up in West Philly, 52nd and Market is where we would board the train, wether East or West Bound!!! As Archie and Edith Bunker would say, "Those were the Days", lol!!!

This was likely somewhere between the years of '90-'92. The first time I remember taking the el was when I was 6 years old in '92. We went down center city to see Batman Returns at the movies.

Looking for a video that shows the old market street bridge I was wondering why the West side of the El looks newer the the East side When the west side was built first Then later on extended to frankford But it makes sense now The bridge and the stations got remodeled back in 2000 something 🤷🏾‍♂️ idk

The Budd trains were almost the same as the R 38 trains of 1966 that ran on the A line in my old hometown of NYC except for not having the motors for the ceiling fans on the roof.😊

I gather that the M4's now ply the 15th-30th stretch faster than the Budds were permitted to, thanks to CBTC.

When you think of it, the B-IVs could be considered a larger version of the M-3 (minus the roof ventilators). They shared the same propulsion controls but higher horsepower motors, Ohio Brass couplers, Cineston throttle/brake controller.

Really brings back memories because I used to ride the 40Something year old trolley cars & the near 50 year old Budd trains over the years plus I remember the subway scenes way before the were all remodeled sometime later on through the decade .

They were built from 1960 til 1961 and were the first stainless steel subway trains in America except for 2 experimental sets for NYC in 1934 and 1949 built by Budd also.

The BUDD cars had mixed propulsion from GE and WH. Not the same motors as R32's, but the same propulsion equipment like the NYCT R26-R30's.

Not quite. The single units (601-646) were all Westinghouse. The married pairs? The odd-numbered car of the married pair were GE, and they were permanently coupled to the even-numbered car, which were Westinghouse.

Wow, this was 12 years ago.The westinghouse singles had pneumatic cam group boxes, motors, motor generators, resistors, and the GE cars had MCM control equipment , with the same components manufactured by GE. I was under the cars at 69th Street.
