September was written in that month that marks a new beginning each year, but without resolutions. A restart occurs regardless of my resolve. This piece celebrates that time and the freedom of starting fresh.
True to form, September is full of double stops and syncopated rhythms. Jazz and rock harmonies and grooves achieve a classic alt-style cello sound - almost motown or funk. Rolling string-crossing patterns and broken chords make it heavy on bow technique. It's exciting to play - I hope it's exciting to hear.

Kylie Bowman Kylie, this might sound lame but, practice more. Listen more. Absorb more "vocabulary" of the music you want to be playing. Listen not to the same stuff all the time but, once you've absorbed something, move on. Go practice. Seek the brilliance in others and enjoy what they do and what they have to say (personally and musically). And then go practice.
