The Cavaleras version of Sepultura was absolutely savage. One of the heaviest bands to walk the Earth.

It never ceases to amaze me how all these years later with so many super heavy bands that have come after them how well Sepultura still holds up in the insanely heavy category. I remember Scott Ian once saying Sepultura didn't sound like a band but sounded like the apocalypse. This is my dream reunion band. Just one show at Wacken or something would make me ridiculously happy. Never going to happen, but not going to stop me from wishing.

The 'Giants Of Rock' Finland '91 performance is sublime. In daylight as well. The guitar solo just sounds like the guitar is weeping. All on fire that day. The whole gig should be on DVD.

I remember seeing a commercial for the show on tv: "next week... Sepultura" in sunlight, water being sprayed on people, band rocking on stage... it looked so awesome. The metal in my veins was drawn to that. I wish I could have been there.

So, I really think that for a hot year or two, towards the mid-90s or maybe a bit earlier, Sepultura was the best rock/metal band anywhere on planet Earth. Maybe at the start of the Metallica Black Album hiatus and the end of grunge, Sepultura was king for a moment. Let me know if I’m wrong. Too bad Max left in ‘96.

There are hardcore influences in Sepultura, I love it. Concerts were brutal at the time...now 1000 phones in the hands of the audience, very sad. Check Deicide's Lunatic of god's creation Live Sweden 1992 or At the gates Blinded by fear 1995 in Krakow..I think (with this VHS of Sepultura in Barcelona of course) two of the most brutal performances in death metal ever.

Just like when we try to say "Ed", we end up saying "Ediii" or something like that, and sometimes we forget that. The word "stop" would easily become "Stop(ii)" if we don't pay attention when we're speaking english. Language and accent barriers xD

Sepulturian Stage Sailing Survivor here. December 1990 in Oakland .CA on the "Beneath The Remains" tour with Obituary and I think Sick Of It All filled in for an absent Sadus that night. INSANITY . I got out with only a twisted ankle that show (that I technically inflicted on myself by missteping during a particularly intense pit during Obituary's cover of the mighty Celtic Frost's "Circle Of The Tyrants" kinda lame on my part Totally . worth. it. Sadly the various lamps... speakers... and shelving in the audience that night were not so successful. Kindling...the savage...kindling haunts my dreams. M.

On the video this waz taken from, Under Siege, it shows crowd disturbances outside. I remember, in Metal magazines here, they were saying in Spanish/Portuguese countries they were finding it hard to get permission for gigs. This is a great tune, good choice!! Enfant Sauvage, Explosia, Heaviest Matter in the Universe, Silvera, Stranded, Art of Dying, Gift of Guilt, Born For One Thing, Clone. etc etc. Heavy, spiritual.
