Sequential LED Taillight Kit | 1965-1966 Mustang

Purchased 66 Mustang with existing sequential LED light unit. Worked but intermittent on left side. Cleaned the two unit socket contacts, insured good contact even if the two wires from the trunk leading to the socket are moved around. Works reliably.

Is the timing for how fast the lights blink sequentially adjustable??

I thought this would be pretty straightforward just like this the right side worked and the left side worked with regular blinkers after I put these in only the right side works the left side is dead and the flasher still makes noise even if the blinkers aren’t turned on so now I’m lost I tried putting the old flasher back in with the regular bulbs and they don’t work now

Do these lights actually flicker with the turn signal activated or is it just how they were recorded? It looks like they have a very fast flicker when the lights are sequencing through the panels. Thanks for any help!

+Nicholas Myers thats just the way they look through the camera, sometimes the LEDs can effect the shutter speed in the lens, there is no actual flickering with the taillights

Hi Bill, for a 68 Mustang Coupe should the stock emergency flasher until still work, or should you use the non sequential flasher that comes with the kit. I have tried both and the emergency flasher does not work. The live wire has power to it.

I know the video is old but I have the same kit. My problem is right before the turn signal kicks on there is a split second flash then the signal happens. Off. Flash. Then signal. Any advice

Is the flasher switch's purpose only for the sequential turn signals? I'd like to buy this kit but only want the LED lights with normal turning lights. Will they not blink without the flasher?

A couple thoughts. When I installed the LED lights the brake lights work great but the taillights are not on at all. Also, I cannot find the undermount flasher to switch out. 64 1/2, Any differences?

Flasher should be the same, they are usually buried up in the dash near the column or over near the fuse box

Roger Clark It's tough to say, it sounds wiring related but I assume the old bulbs worked fine? If the polarity were wrong with the plug then nothing should work. I would suggest disconnect one side and see if there is any change.

Is there a kit available to convert the Fox-body Mustangs' rectangular taillights to LED, and even better, LED sequential? I have 1979 Ford Mustang Ghia to which I would like to add LED lighting.

Thank you for the info. I will continue my search. The 1979 Mustang has a different taillight configuration. I wonder if this unit could be converted somehow.

I have never seen any LED upgrades for the 79-81 cars but people have converted the tailights to the later style.

I agree. I have never seen LED upgrades for my car, but I keep looking and asking. Maybe "some day" a company will listen. I have also considered converting to the "newer" taillights, but I have not decided one way or the other, yet. Converting my '79 taillights is an option, but then that takes away the look of the '79. My research continues. LOL

These lights are garbage. Two different sets failed in less than a month each, went with different set that are much more reliable.

I have to agree. It's sad that the original Mustang doesn't get the same quality treatment that it's successive years have received regarding these "upgrade" aftermarket accessories. I haven't seen an LED kit yet for this year that matches what's available for '67 and later models.
