Thank you Joe ... I learn many things from your videos ... I learn from this video how to make a sequential 3D prints ... Further more, I was able to make some changes to be able to sequentially 3D print many models that are taller than gantry height ... My printer is Creality CR-10S Pro ... I did that by: 1- Increasing the Gantry Height to a value that is more than the tallest model (for my Creality CR-10S Pro the gantry height is 30 mm, but I set it to 100 mm). 2- Select all models (Ctrl + A) and rotate them all together +10 degrees on Z axis. I did that to guarantee that the gantry rail road will not hit a previously printed model.

That's great! Just tried that for the first time in Ideamaker yesterday. Makes Simplify3D obsolete for me now. The thing that Ideamaker needs to include now is a DOE wizard so we don't need to create the groups by hand.

Joe, Thanks so much. I always enjoy your videos. I've been using Simplified 3D since I bought my first Prusa in 2015. I started using the S3D sequential printing feature just a few months ago. I print a lot of the same parts for products we manufacture and has been a godsend. It works very well but it is like pounding rocks when compared to what you demonstrated using Ideamaker. I downloaded a copy of Ideamaker and will give it a go. Lindsey

@@3DMakerNoob I'm looking forward to trying. I'm pretty disappointed with S3D in their lack of updates and support, especially for charging for its use. BTW, I also have adopted the strategy of left-to-right and front-to-back. In doing this it eliminates the need to worry about the gantry clearance because it's the print head that defines the space. The other strategy I've implemented is to stager my models towards the back as I go left-right in case the previous model might interfere with the gantry.
@3DMakerNoob5 жыл бұрын
exactly, that is the trick i mentioned in the video. if you know how the movement is and the limitations, then you are no longer bound by the gantry height :)

Hi Joe Great video and a very good test print. I downloaded and printed one today. It showed me that I have some sort of problem - that I am not sure what causes it. Where the print starts to step out from the base to form the bottom of the rectangle - the two back (not the front ones) corners seem to be a bit soft and curl up. With the next layer of the perimeters the nozzle pushes them down as it places the new plastic, then they curl up again. Once the rectangle starts to print the problem goes away! I am using an Ender 3 pro with direct drive, alluminium extruder (single gear drive) and a double wing Hero Me (version 4) with a single 50x25mm fan for cooling. The fan is running at 100%. Any suggestions? Regards David PS. I am new to ideaMaker (from Cura) and I am impressed so far. But I found that I hade my Gcode in the filament settings and the slicer template - it took me a while to realise why it printed two purge lines before printing! Sorted now. Also, I am looking forward to your next video on dialing in the settings.

I tested this with prusa slicer yesterday, their auto-arrange even takes sequential printing into account and tries to lay things out for you. Still a lot of warning popups along the way and auto-layout wasn't always optimal.

Nice video and slicer. I'm starting my 3d printing business project and secuential printing would be great! I work in a prusa MK3s and I print some objects with more than the X-axis height. Using PrusaSlicer i have the height restriction, as you mentioned, even when my pieces are in both corners of the plate. I've seen that tweaking the height to 60mm for example y can get the software to slice, but I never tried printing it. Do you have any suggestions on the topic? Have you ever tried secuential printing in tall objects? Thanks and nice vid!

Nice Video Joe I have a geetech a10 pro and I use ideamaker (latest version) as a slicer. I don't understand what I did wrong but when I try to print 6 identical containers, the first one prints it at the bottom left of the center of the print area, then before print the second it waits for the plate to return to the temperature of the first layer and then print as a line on the bottom left edge of the plate. I have tried different configurations the result does not change. Any suggestions Thank you

Hm, this might be a Cura Killer for me. I tried so long to get sequential printing working with items higher than the gantry height, buy without being able to tell it which to print fist, it was luck of the draw if it worked. I especially like per model variables, such as temp, speed, and extrusion rate. Makes dialing in samples such as makerbox so much easier!

Have you always been using ideamaker? I love it as it's easy and loads very fast. Been using cura for a few months but have a hard time with features that are just so straightforward in ideamaker.
@bencekoos18555 жыл бұрын
Thnx, was very useful! I'm struggling with this priority thing in Cura, but as i see there's a dedicated option in Ideamaker, so i'll try this slicer. But one thing i don't understand. Why can't you print next to side of the buildplate at seqential printing? I can't do that in Cura, and as i see Ideamaker do neither. The movement of the printhead doesn't affect to where you can place objects next to the sides. I understand the limitation between the objects (because the printhead and the gantry height), but you could print 4row x 4coloumn of your test objects, if there is not that grey zone. Do you have any idea why is that?
@3DMakerNoob5 жыл бұрын
You can in fact print on the side, the placement I chose was auto, however I can move them to the edges and possibly print even more :)

@3DMakerNoob5 жыл бұрын
I could potentially put up to 9 models if placed properly. For bigger parts you could fit 4 but you’d have to lie to the slicer and give it a taller gantry, the trick then is the sequence to make sure they never intersects

@3DMakerNoob5 жыл бұрын
ideaMaker does in fact have modifiers. what i didn't go into during this video is that apart from doing different parameters for each model, i could have also done variable layer settings within each model. ideaMaker has come a very long way and nowadays it's probably one of the most versatile slicers. however, there are still a few things they should work on
