About your question on houndstooth, I only know the answer in French ;-) we call these patterns "pied de poule" and "pied de coq" (litterally hen foot and rooster foot), so obviously the latter the bigger! Funny that what you see done by tooth we see that done by foot!! ;-)

Will pass it on! Our advice would be...leave unbuttoned to avoid pulling, or buy larger and have it altered so it doesn't pull on the bust. If you're a curvy shape, look for a pulled in at the waist style rather than a masculine blazer to accentuate your shape. x
