3 badass things about this scene, 1. him telling the other 'kingsguard' that he could beat them easily and the fact that it's TRUE, 2. calling the king 'boy' and nobody can say anything about it, 3. telling joeffery to melt down his sword and add it to the iron throne, which if you remember is made of aegon's ENEMIES swords. The best part of the scene is the retitscence that the Hound has as he puts his hand on his sword. There are like ~30 (maybe more?) soldiers and knights between the Goldcloaks, Lannister soldiers, Kingsguard, etc. in the room and Sandor still wasn't feeling too excited to end up having to cross swords with a man in his mid 60's. Respect. The subtle 1.5 second shot of him slowly and cautiously touching his sword is better storytelling than the entire last 2 seasons of the show.

Bwsab I don't see that it's necessary to kill a key character in the books just to keep the viewers interested. What if G.R.R. Martin has big plans for Selmy in book 6 or 7? I understand that the show doesn't need to match the books to the letter, but I think they made a rash decision removing him just for one quick dramatic scene. I'm also somewhat biased because Barristan Selmy is one of my absolute favorite characters in the books.
