This is a pretty good piece of characterisation for Robert Baratheon which isn't as obvious in the books. He lets the fight drag on out of enjoyment of seeing two famous warriors go head to head right in front of him and steps in as late as feasibly possible to break it up. Shows how much he still loves the glory, fame and bloodlust that goes into combat, and how loose he is with peacekeeping in general.

What a let down this show was...7 seasons of brilliance, followed by a rushed mess because the author of the story wont get off the privy and finish the tale properly. I had defended George in the past, even passionately, but I have reached the stage after the disappointment of the 8th season and the legion of excuses coming out for why the final books aren't coming out, I just don't care about Game of Thrones Books, series or anything else anymore....Even if ol' Georgie were to publish the rest of the tale tomorrow, I would not care and wouldn't buy it...just not interested in the story or world anymore. You got your wish George, your now a producer on TV...which was what you really wanted after all.
