Video looked great. Clarity, color, sound all were great. Very smooth which I think is easier on the eyes especially on bigger screens. I don't think it really makes the terrain look that much smoother, you can still see the bike moving around and it's definitely more pleasant to watch imo. I'm glad they improved battery record time and I'm looking forward to see if it will last for an entire harescramble split start format.

I’m hoping it will handle a full Harescramble in 1080. Thanks for watching.

Hello Donnie, I follow you from Argentina! Excellent race and excellent video quality! I wanted to consult, I just bought a hero 9, I filmed a motorcycle ride in 2k, but when uploading the video to KZbin, the quality dropped significantly. I would like to know how you configure your video so that when uploading it it does not lose quality. Thanks and regards 😀

Thanks for watching! Most of my videos are 4k, 30 fps, rendered at 66.67 mbps. 2k should be pretty good as well. I looked at your two most recent videos and they are 1080p. They still look pretty good though. Check your software to make sure you're rendering at full resolution. Good luck!

Dang, that looks good, I think I'm going to have to upgrade from my Hero 5. Two questions... were you using auto white balance, and was this with the built-in microphone?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
Alabama Dirt Rider Yes and yes. I was recording in 4K, 30 FPS, superview with hypersmooth on and gps off. All other settings were default or auto. I did not have an external mic connected.

@@DirtBikingwithDonnie Awesome! The microphone appears to handle wind noise a lot better, I wonder if it still does the thing where the audio gets muted when you smack a branch with your helmet? I've been using 5500K manual white balance for my videos, it's a bit too warm, but the Hero 5 has limited options. I don't like how the auto white balance kills the colors, for example making our red clay look grey.

I like the long videos! The stabilization looks good. To me it's preferred over really shaky video. I wish KZbin didn't "dumb down" to quality so much during upload/compression. Have you considered filming in 4k? I use the Sony x3000 and film exclusively in 4k, only because when I upload to YT it comes through clearer. I get about 45 minutes non stop filming in 4k on my Sony. I'm not sure what it'd be on the 9. That'd be a really interesting test though. Sure wish I could have made this race. It was just too far from Baton Rouge, especially without a camper and then having to drive home after the event... Great video though. Looks like the course was pretty sweet.
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
It's interesting you mention 4K because I recorded the entire race in 4k yesterday. In the past I haven't because it shortens the battery life so much, but with the sprint enduro format I can change out batteries between tests. I will probably still use 1080p in a harescramble format though because I want to get the entire race if possible. I uploaded this video in 4k but KZbin hasn't processed the 4k version yet. I did a test last week on a 1 minute video and it took youtube 3 days to process the 4k footage. When you upload in 4k, how long does it generally take for youtube to process the 4k so it's viewable in 4k?
@P4ddyC4ke4 жыл бұрын
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie I guess it really depends on the video length, but I've always uploaded my video and scheduled it to go live about 6 hours afterwards and it's always had the 4k version ready.

I would turn down the smoothing a little. It takes away some of the feel watching it that way.
@DirtBikingwithDonnie4 жыл бұрын
It does hide the toughness of the course a little. Thanks for watching!
