I am one of the few djs that use vdj 8 professionally her in PA and am making the switch to serato because it actually is beeter if you scratch the sound of the scratching is nowhere even close with vdj 8 unless im missing some setting.

hi I use both Serato dj pro with iTunes to dj with and I want to delete both Serato dj pro and iTunes without deleting my music files and start all over again and this time without using iTunes with Serato dj pro. Because for some reason I lost a lot of music files that they are no where to be found on my computer nor in my external hard drive and by the way I use an external hard drive with Serato dj pro which is where I keep my music files and iTunes folder. I did realize I have Serato and Serato backup folders in my internal and external hard drive and I think that is how my music files go missing. Can you please tell me how do I go about starting over and to be able to have my Serato dj pro setup nice and clean, cause the way my Serato dj pro looks now is very messy. seeing all these red or orange files with ? marks and lightning icon is an eyesore to me.

I'm a very beginner. You started with all your music in serato. But a lot of us need help understanding how to get the music into the serato library.

You just need to open a file explorer (or finder on mac) window, navigate to all of your music files, then select and drag them into Serato.

thats because you havent installed the drivers. even if its says two drivers installed i,e usb and pio ddj sb2, youll still have to install the provied ddjsb2 windows/mac driver found on serato website. if you dont, when you connect the controller it will flash for a minute and then say error, cannot connect audio!! Also make sure the defaut device and default communication device is the internal speakers of the laptop.

Sooo I haven't touched my Technics and Serato for over 4 years and today I tried to hook it up but it's not recognizing the controller? I tried installing Scratch Live 2.5 but it asked me to upgrade to DJ Pro2.1.0. Which couldn't even finish installing because it kept crashing. I don't think the windows is recognizing the controller. Make sure that your turntables are plugged into a phono input on your mixer/controller, that may resolve the issue.

Take a look at the cuing section of the hardware you are using, the controls for that function is there and not in the software.

That sounds like a grounding issue. I would try running different and better shielded cables from your controller to your speakers. Also try checking the power source your speakers are plugged into. If the power isn't grounded correctly or shielded well you will get that hum.

Your computer may not be giving enough power over the USB ports to support both the controller and the mouse. Try using the SR's power supply or maybe try using a powered USB hub to plug the mouse into?

Are you using a Serato DJ compatible sound card, mixer, or controller?

post the model of the controller you are using. also make sure you have installed the drivers of your controller even if windows/mac shows that all the drivers are installed. also make sure your internal sound drivers are set to be default device and default communication device respectively. try different usb ports but am sure step one and two will take care of your issue

I forgot to say, when your buying your machine/gear/hardware. Make SURE its Serato compatible. dont go buying recordbox machines and then get a heart attack when it doesn't display the jog wheels on serato. but these days any gear has a walkabout to any software you want
