VDJ does sound better. I just started using Serato from VDJ. I just got the REV1 and Serato was much easier to work with OBS on a side note. With VDJ I had to fight with virtual cables and find guides. Serato was 5 minutes and walked me through the entire process. For that I am going to stick with their STEMs for a few updates to see if it improves. Thanks for the breakdown.

Now after using Denons gear and Engine Prime, there is no going back to Serato. It's because of Seratos stone-age looping and beatjump controls (that gray table to search a number from), not even to mention when looping and beatjump were put on pads. But with this one here that you have, there is kind of hope for people actually keep using Serato. Looks really nice too on the screen both Virtual DJ and Serato. Perhaps in future, you could show more examples how Virtual DJ performs together with fx on this gear.

virtual is killing it in the stems game.also the integration of vdj with any dj gear is really good.

Using Stems is fun especially in a packed room when sometimes you have no time to play the acapella version and let's admit, most of the time acapella's are hard to find. But yes if you want to use Stems on Virtual DJ you have to let the whole song load first if you have an older Intel i7 Macbook Pro. If you have the modern M2 Octa-Core chips with Macbook Pro you have nothing to worry about. It is more than powerful enough. Have fun guys! Great video @ the DJ Lab :)

I agree Virtual DJ is killing Serato on the quality of the stems. Seems like they avoided being too aggressive on the mid-high frequency. There is more of a bleed of the synths in the female portion of the acapella in VDJ than you hear on Serato, but I would prefer living with that and get a clearer sounding vocal stem. Overall the tech advances are great and the completion is healthy. We will all benefit. Thanks for doing this!

Virtual DJ wins this round, but some of the stuff you can do with the new Rane four controller is pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to the next year of competition

Yes, but you need Apple M1 (not intel) or high-end video -card on Windows, nvidia RTX for fastest performance. I don't have either so I just precompute them on my desktop. Goto Settings, type "stems", set stemsRealtimeSeparation to "enabled" (NOT "Reduced quality"). For flexibility you can precompute high quality stems and have lower-quality realtime stems for tracks you haven't prepared

That last part... VDJ can do way more and is very user friendly. I get into arguments all the time with Serato-heads who won't admit VDJ is better overall.... Please do a full comparison of Virtual Dj and Serato.... include all features and also scratches and sound quality.

After having some fun with Serato 3.0 beta / full Release...seeing this comparison definitely can agree with you VDJ 2023 stems is the way to go more cleaner , you can hear every aspect to it..compare to Serato its does sound robotic with some filters included. Thank you for making this video I may switch to VDJ as a long time Serato User due to the fact as a DJ i started on VDJ before I got my DJ equipment back in 2011 on top...VDJ Has improved so much over the years and I Can use my DJ Controller with it. Doesn't mean I'ma hate Serato lol..but i'll be switching between the two depending the situation.

virtual dj has cleaner vocal stems but for that you need some pretty high end gear and remember they had a head start on Serato The fact is i have both and so many things impact the quality .What gear have you got.What format are you using and what songs .The margin between the two is slight with some saying over all that Serato is best while others going for vdj.I am impressed by both with the echo out feature on Serato vocal stems being a plus.The fact is Serato is playing catch up but either way its a good time to be a dj

Serato 3.0 is clearly better in this example. A Capella had less to no other sounds leaking in. Virtual DJ on the other hand had more of the other sounds leaking in.

You can tweak the Stems settings on Virtual DJ if need be if creating a remix where you want no instruments leaking. If you are doing it live on the fly for a crowd nobody will really care.
