The resignation of the prime minister is an important concession."" With these words, Ivan Vejvoda, Permanent Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, underscores the growing political pressure in Serbia. This resignation - along with that of the mayor of Novi Sad - is more than a political maneuver; it is a direct response to public outrage and growing demands for accountability.
And those demands are clear: political and criminal accountability for those involved in the November tragedy in Novi Sad, where a roof collapse at a train station led to the tragic deaths of 15 people. The shock and anger that followed the disaster have fueled calls for justice and systemic change.
As Vejvoda explains, Serbia is now at a crossroads. The president faces a critical choice - either to propose a new government or to call early elections. But first, parliament must formally accept the resignation, triggering a 30-day countdown in which the nation's political future will be decided.

People are dissatisfied with the corruption, crime and dictatorship implemented by Vučić. That's why most people in Serbia support the protests and the students. The problem is that this popular enthusiasm needs to be implemented politically. The opposition in Serbia is better than Vučić because at least it is not dictatorially oriented, as they are more cultured and have real university degrees, unlike the ruling elite. And the problem is that it is without money, weak and disunited and satanized by the regime media. Meanwhile, the strongest opposition party SSP has about 6.7%, which is small. In many areas and smaller towns, it has no election observers at all. The entire opposition currently has at most 35% of the votes. Vučić with his satellite groups and minorities has almost 60%. I hope the students will change that in public opinion.

I am a British/American in Serbia, and I see these protests in Novi Sad frequently. Glad to see the Serbs step up. People are generally nice here, I see a lot of potential here, but after speaking to many Serbs, regardless of their political beliefs, understand the corruption, and the sketchy nature of the bureaucracy. Although I am pro Trump, pro Farage, and pro BREXIT, I clearly understand that Serbia should align with the EU and get very serious about it. They are holding themselves back otherwise. They also need to break free of anything to do with Russian influence, unless they want poverty, and corruption to continue. Joining the EU will force them to step up their laws, regulations, and safety issues, which are required to join the EU

In the grand scheme of things China needs to be isolated. Economically EU is the second biggest consumer market in the world after US. China has pockets of allies in the EU Serbia happens to be one of them. To isolate, China we need to cut off its markets ... For that happened an example needs to be made of the Serbian Government.
