it will be. this stretch of line shown on video is first stage of high speed rail being currently built between Beograd and Budapest. But greater plan is to connect Budapest with Athens all HSR standard with lowest speed being 120 km/h in hilly mountains of serbia and macedonia, most sections 160 km/h, and the stretches being 200-250 km/h.

I was in Serbia in August 2022 and took this train from Belgrade to Novi Sad and back. Wow all I can say is WOW. Impressive. Serbia has come so far and still fights hard to recover from everything that happened in its past. I was so pleasantly surprised and I can't say enough nice things about the people who are so welcoming and have lots of good food! Keep it up Serbia, from Denmark with love ♥

@@AlkyMr I don't remember Croatia ever being bombed by NATO, so I really don't understand why you are trying to steal the spotlight by playing the sole victim in the chaotic Balkan history. Grow up, we really shouldn't compete in who suffered more, we need to look ahead and create a better future for our children. We already know that Croatia is more progressive, you should give a chance to the people who had nothing to do with the war to have a good life, and not live being haunted by the mistakes made in the history on every damn corner.

@@AlkyMr Why are you watching this video if you think that Serbia is taking a step back everyday? I don't get it. If I don't like someone I just don't want to know about them at all. Yet it seems that albanians and croatians are commenting on every video I've seen of Serbia, which shows that you're still interested in how that country is doing. I don't know in detail what happened between all the Yougoslav countries in the 90s, but I was alluding to the 1999 bombing of Belgrade and think that it's amazing that they've rebuilt so much of the city after it was bombed. Quite the opposite. Things like these may make it seem like Serbia is a well-off country on the surface, however we have very paralyzing problems underneath that rarely swim out to the top. In fact, the very construction of this railway was delayed by years due to corrupt politicians not using the investors' funds for the project, but for their own personal needs. That is why we won't be seeing the completion of this project for a long time.

@@ovidiu8940 true, they also reconstructed it and building more highways. The problem is exactly what Filip said. We have a lot of transition through our country, especially when people are on work vacation, plus they increased already three times tolls, so with that amount of money we should have already have at least some progress in upgrading railways south. And they are speaking about that 20 years at least. And dont let me start with parking spaces in my town 🤦

I did a round trip from Belgrade in October 2022. Thoroughly impressed and both trains were nearly full in second class. If I recall, rt was less than $6. It seems the public is loving these trains. Now if they can just connect to Subotica and Nis within the next three years!

200 km/h section to Subotica is under construction last 2 years and will open in 2025 probably. Hungary is also working on their part, i think it will finish in 2024, it will be for 160 km/h. So by 2025 we will have Budapest-Belgrade with 160-200 km/h. Belgrade-Niš upgrade will most likely start next year, since they are finishing documentation and EU already approved money for that project.

Roughly, this trip would cost about 3x more in a car, and that's just the fuel, not counting tolls or city driving, really. Trains in Serbia were always a popular way of transport, but it has sharply declined in recent years due to them becoming more unreliable than a rusted 1970's car - often, they just wouldn't come, so public gave up on them. If the railway was in better shape (there are sections of railway in the south that have a 5kmh speed limit, you can overtake it just strolling by), and if service was reliable, there'd be no shortage of passengers. Looking forward to connection with Nis, as it's a bit of a longer stretch and people do it fairly frequently in a car, I'm sure most would be happy to do it faster and at half the cost.

Believe me, that it's not because of your "stupid" politicians but because of the mafia in Serbia. The state of Serbia has incurred debt for such projects, including similar ones, amounting to approximately 55% GDP. Serbia is constantly taking on debt for roads, bridges, highways, railways, and so on. However, all of this debt must be repaid; nothing is free. Unfortunately, future generations will have to repay the debts incurred by the current government. We can be proud of the train (the only one in the country that reaches these speeds), but it doesn't diminish the fact that we are the fastest and most heavily indebted country in the region relative to our population.

It is just a mask...yes this one train is good, but too many cargo trains get turned over (even the ones transporting toxic chems). Railroad is so bad throughout the whole country that you can pick up the railroad spikes with your hand, if even there are any. This is just about railroad, I don't know how's life in BUL but here it is tough with dictator in charge. Don't trust what people say about Serbia, it is not good to live here, especially if you are not member of The Party.

When the construction of the new high-speed line to Budapest is finished, the "Soko" will revolutionise rail travel in the Balkans. Serbia is trying hard to fix its ancient railway network, and it clearly shows, but I do agree that Beograd Centar is nowhere near finished, which is a shame - Novi Sad and Novi Beograd stations looks so beautiful IMO. 😍 A note on the "Soko" trains: you said these Stadler trains are similar to those operated by DB and Westbahn. I can confirm that by close inspection, the train's interior and appearance looks *IDENTICAL* to Westbahn!

No clue of this Westbahn thing tho, never heard of it, will have to look into that model but something tells me seeing your comments this West-whatever sounds German and it's a typical blatant copy of a Russian train since Russia is known to build great trains then others copy them.
@SuperalbsTravels
@SuperalbsTravels 11 ай бұрын
No, this is a Swiss designed train which has been operating in various countries for many years. Russia ordered a few of them, however their currency collapsed again and they couldn't afford them. Westbahn ordered some identical trains before Srbija Voz, and this is a follow-on order from their fleet. Russia has only built a few trains for Serbia, in the form of some fairly rubbish diesel trains.

That is Cyrilic, Latin is almost as easy with only a few sounds requiring the letter J behind an L and an N and D requiring a Z behind it. In Cyrilic, our language has the easiest conversion from sound to writing on the planet.

Fantastic video. I would love to watch a few more from you. Maybe I can add a little more good information. Once completed Belgrade- Budapest will take about 2:45 min with border checks happening at the railways stations, so it won't need to slow down on the border. And currently, with EU support Serbia is planning on linking Belgrade to Niš (Serbia's 3rd largest city) and then to the Macedonian border with High-SpeedRail. If Macedonia builds High-Speed Rail (it's possible with EU infrastructure support) it will link the central European networks to Greece with HSR from Budapest. You could take a sleeper train from Vienna to Greece easily. After the HSR in Serbia, Belgrade to Vienna and Bratislava will take a little more the 5 hours. And if with TEN-T Budapest-Vienna (or Budapest-Prag) gets upgraded to HSR eventually it could cut down travel from the Balkans to Central Europe significantly. Construction on Belgrade station will be done soon (finally), it should look rather nice. And Belgrade will connect the station better in time. Belgrade also started building its metro system last year, Its metro line 3 will connect under the railway station. But that's a long way away, since building it takes a lot of time. Another interesting decision is the ticket price (less than half the price of a 3 times slower bus). It was a bit controversial to set it to low. Since building HSR is expensive, the low ticket price will not repay the cost in any reasonable time. But the country set the low price with the reasoning that giving access to more people will give more benefits both economic and social. I don't always agree with the government, but I think this is a smart move that I hope they keep implementing going forward with new HSR projects. Since I love trains and the planing behind it I looked up the logig behind Serbia's approach. If anyone is interested, there is a very interesting video I recently saw, from some small channel, about why it can be a good thing for trains to lose money, I can link it hear. Serbia is following the advice and I think it's good. Glad you had a good time and I look forward to your other videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHOraKFugNmsg9k
