Its an entirely untrue statement as there are people out there with the means to spend outrageous sums but that doesnt make the item worth what is spent. Also that phrase can give the false impression that things like scalping and price gouging are ok when they arent and in many cases can be illegal. Again, completely off topic but felt like mentioning it anyway

I actually Got my Zastava M91cerakoted, plus 5 extra mags... I have an RS REGULATE mount and an Eotech Vudu on that. Alg Ultimate trigger too. Hoping to take this to Thunder Ranch Next month. Great Practical Accuracy!!! So very annoying my M91 didn't come with a DETENT! I enjoy swapping Muzzle Devices. I went with Srvv Svd mag pouches.

Somehow comment didn't post. Love your vids as always, Misha! I've been looking for a Zrak 6 or 8x for a while without any luck. Love my M76, after sorting the mistakes made by Century. For Jay, I'd highly recommend getting a PSO/POSP derivative in 8x42. The glass quality is really clear, and you just need an SVD clamp mount. It's an inexpensive option to maximize the rifle, while still keeping it somewhat com bloc. I'd also recommend he shoot it with 200gr PPU Match. Adjust the scope cam accordingly (Watch out for that ball bearing, it will launch into the stratosphere.) and rock on! For some reason, the M91 just seems 'Cheap', with the rear section added. I don't know, I guess I'm happy with my M76. I'm not a great shooter but I'm able to get it down to 1.25/1.5 MOA.

If you come across the 6x Zrak scopes, please shoot me an e-mail. I'd really like to pick one up for mine. Agreed the M76 is a better gun....i am not sure how someone could say otherwise? That said, I don't really feel the M91 feels cheap. I mean, it seems a quality gun to me, even if not as nice as the M76. In the end, I just like it for being a true import and being 100% Zastava. I doubt many of these will be sold here. Its a limited market and a high pricetag. Even dealer cost on these isn't cheap.

I got an old M76 import in 8mm with and I converted some German MG13 magazines that work perfectly nice to have a semi auto 8mm mauser with 27 rounds. Quite accurate. I'm not sure if their is much of a point for 54R If you can have a .308 with 20 round mags. If 54R was still cheap I would get it but I already have a long barreled 54R Vepr that I made to look more DMR like.

No need, it has an adjustable gas regulator already. Zastava recommends firing it wide open for the first few mags, and then dialing it back a notch (or 2) afterwards.

Certainly for some fine-tuning perhaps. I find shooting in 40-45c+, the lowest setting on my M76 functions fine. at 30c+ it is 90% reliable, then single shot at more humane temps. However, it might help if you wanted to fine-tune it?

The original M-91 front end is the exact same Flash hider/sight assembly as the M-76. They have to cut off the slots and grind down the interrupted threads , thread what is left and mill off the bayonet lug for import. The replacement to the M-76 assembly is a common swap with M-91 owners. On the accuracy with my M-76 I am getting 1.5 MOA with Hornady Vintage Match. I was getting 1 MOA out of my M-91 with PPU match before my eyesight went to caca. Never had any trigger slap with my rifle. I also use a 6X POSP. The Last 6X Zrak I saw with the proper mount was $800 on EBay.

It looks like it recoils a lot harder than the PSL. It being $1000 or so more, I'll stick with the PSL. Good overview though! That m76 is gorgeous!

cold dead hand The recoil of this rifle isn’t bad. Part of the issue is the first 100 rounds or so have to be fired with the gas action wide open. Once you get over that round count the normal gas setting is used and the recoil is much more manageable on that setting.

Why are people buying them? Because the cool factor is through the roof. The accuracy is fine for their intended purpose. When you consider what people spend on Springfield Armory M1As, considering that they aren't much more accurate, not as tough and far more common, this isn't really that bad a deal in comparison. I would have added that the ammo was a hell of a lot cheaper but, considering what's going on now, guess that's not a factor at this time.

Actually there is another M-76 option. Assault Weapons of Ohio builds them off of parts kits. They are who assembled mine. I believe they still have them in stock.

Those are distant cousins to the Century guns too. AWO got started by cleaning up ORF's messes, and ORF was the original receiver maker for the Century M76 Sporter.

It's not cost effective on the public market, its cost effective on the military market. Basing it on the PSL means you dont have to spend R&D money on a new design or tooling. Using the same ZRAK scopes means you can save money reusing scopes you already have, also using 54r ammo is just about everywhere in that part of the world. So its cost effective from a government perspective. For us importing it individually though, no. There are much much better options for the money

Hay not sure if addressed in a former comment. Those M77 ps had 10 round magazines. Some of those magazines failed out of the box! Fortunately Csspecs makes replacement magazines. Not sure how big the issue was but there are a few internet comments!

@Michael Meyer yep! And depending on when you purchased a rifle csspects were months or a year away from production. M14 magazines were your best option. Original factory magazines still are not available.

The button is for added retention for grenade firing with teh M70 series. The M76 and M91 aren't expected to do this. Note that the M72 doesn't have the button either.

I’m not the collector like you are Misha. I don’t yet own any rifle that could be classified as a DMR or SAPR. Honestly for me, I just don’t see the value prop in one of these (or the PSL) as compared to say an AR-10. That’s just me though. Appreciate the review!

For what it's worth, I agree with you. I like shooting my Galil ACE .308 and BRN-10 much more than any x54r semi auto. I've pretty much settled on the fact that 54r is for my Mosins.

They were sold an SVD technical,package from the new owners of FEG, but PSA found out they didn’t have the ability to manufacture certain parts to spec in house. They were negotiating having The NEW FEG manufacture and import those parts, but no word if the EU will even allow that. The new FEG May have folded so,those parts may never materialize. Many companies have looked into making an SVD clone, and doing one to original specs always prooves to be not cost effective. It isn't a super accurate platform and most of what makes it interesting is being built in good ol' Russia. Take that away and you end up with a rifle without any soul.

Zraks can’t be sold here. There is a Bosnian embargo against the United States. It is why the Other Zraks dried up several years ago. Plus the POSP is cheaper and there are enough folks bitching about the price of this rifle as it is.

Feel free to e-mail me, but honestly the 552 is just what it is. I bet yours is one of the LE surplus guns Midwest sold off about 10 years ago? Really the 552 is just the 553 but with earlier internals. It was adopted into the Swiss military as the STGW.04, but most have been updated to 553s as the STGW.04/07 by now.

@@MrDsabourin We've covered the development of the original SG552 and upgraded SG553 in various Swiss/SiG/SAN videos. As to yours specifically, what would you like to know? Most Swiss guns haven't seen much combat/military field use for obvious reasons. JDI has a batch of 54 552s coming in next month too; both short & long barrel variants. That's pretty neat actually.

Worth it in 7.62x54r? Not really, maybe 5-10 years ago it would have been. Don't get me wrong, it's still cool as shit, but whatever 54r I have left I save for my mosins nowadays. I'd love an M76, too bad the barrels are unobtanium now (as are the kits, more or less).

@Jones The Model 70 in 30-06 is something I hope to pick up cheap while people go find out that a semi-auto isn't always as good as a scoped bolt action, that performs better at long distance. And carrying it all day. Hunters use them for a reason.

@@misha5670 The 6.5x55 is a torpedo. I had one and it was amazing. Ammunition kept getting more limited over the years but that 30-06 still has plenty of commercial and reloading options. When I sold the 6.5, the reloading dies closed the sale at a good price.

In terms of value per dollar, m91 is definitely not worth it. In terms of cool factor, it is totally worth it.

From my experience, I would not recommend the M91. In the end, it is nothing more than a poor man's SVD, no different than the PSL in this regard. And considering that a genuine factory-built SVD Tigr can be bought new for less than $1,500 in Russia, the $3,000+ M91 is also a terribly expensive alternative ironically.

Back in 2008-2009, the base model Tegr w/o the optic cost $750 retail, brand new in a Russian gunshop. It had the flash hider but no bayonet lug. Russian gun laws are very strict about bayonet lugs. Even the SKS carbines in the store had their blade bayonets removed.

That's a completely null comment really...In such parts of the world as the USA a real SVD is cost prohibitive. a new, 3K m91 rifle is literally 3-4 times CHEAPER than a used SVD.

Do not Rapid fire those guns especially a stamped x54 . Great way to wear out Trunion. Machine Gun Ammo compromises the accuracy. You only do rapid fire when under serious fire but not for very long. M76 better the M91 was originally for police units. They used them first for years still line the M76 better.
