(P.S. It took me about a solid WEEK to get this garage cleaned out and to get everything sorted--down to the final screws!) As far as costs, the only thing I spent money on was additional storage containers for the shelves. They were about $6.00 each on sale for 4th of July. I'm still not done with the garage makeover and clean-up. I've got more garage lights in install....freshening up the painted floor...etc. I am badly in need of a shed to get the bikes and gardening tools out of the garage, too. I am going to start planning to build a shed. I've never tackled such a project, so please wish me luck!!! :)

Where to start! I love many things about you and your videos. You're real, you show the struggle and show perfect is not the goal. You tackled this project alone as you do most and while overwhelmed at times you powered through. I'm divorced so I do mine alone. I get overwhelmed then frustrated. This video helped me so much to be motivated to keep going. Thank you. You're an amazing woman and encourage so many of us to just try!
@ThriftDiving5 жыл бұрын
Oh Cassie, you made me happy this morning with such kind and warm-hearted words! Yes, this isnt about perfection because I can never make things perfect, and neither can my readers. I think the fear of getting started for most people is the fear of the work it will require, along with the fear that it wont look as good as something on Pinterest. That's not the goal. The goal is about creating a comfortable, cozy, and affordable home! If you walk into a space and feel happy and warm inside, then you're home is perfect, for YOU! I showed my garage makeover "AFTER" pics to a friend and he told me that I could do better, that it was just "average." I was insulted at first. Then I realized that his opinion means nothing. He hasn't seen the struggle, he didn't see the before, and he doesn't know the evolution this garage has taken. I am proud of what it looks like now, and I look forward to keep seeing it evolve and improve. I say all that to say that perfect isn't attainable for me and most of us, and we should never let that prevent us from moving forward. Thank you. Cassie!!!

@ThriftDiving5 жыл бұрын
And you know what--I actually showed my "AFTER" picture to a friend and he had the nerve to tell me my garage looked "average." That really bothered me because after spending so much time taking it from cluttered to organized, that was hurtful. That's why I had to mention that it doesn't have to look perfect because people always think that when you're done with something, it needs to look cover-perfect. And that's not true. You work with the space you've got. In my case, I still have messy bikes hanging up and garden equipment that's hogging the whole center space. But I can't do anything about that. You might have challenges as well that prevents it from looking "cover-perfect" or "Pinterest-perfect." But let's not worry about that. Let's do what we can and feel good about the job we just did! :) Good luck with your garage! It will look imperfectly perfect. :)

Your video is the first one I’ve seen that is perfectly in the middle. Just normal day to day “sometimes the only option is to stand at my kitchen/garage door and set curtain rods/paper-clay dinosaur heads/donation bags etc. out just far enough that the door will shut again so I can reach the washing machine in between homework, dinner and bath time...” This is how we stay sane. Knowing we’re not alone. Thank you a million times. One year later. 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This is something I need to do myself so I think this could be a good way for me to get back into doing DIY projects. A fresh start. May I make a suggestion? One of my older clients implemented a system called 5S. Basically you would outline and label where things belong so it makes it easier to put things back. If it was something on the wall, floor, shelf, ect it didn't matter. It was outlined and labeled. Thank you for the awesome content. This has been a very therapeutic and rejuvenating experience for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I think this is dope. I'm really glad you painted the shelves cuz they look really nice. It is a big transformation and a good motivation for people who are trying to clean. Don't listen to your husband. There's a reason you're the KZbinr just saying haha. Thanks for sharing can't wait for the video where you build your garden shed 😉😉

It takes forever, doesn't it?! You don't realize how much odds and ends you have until you have a find a place for all of them! Good luck getting yours done!

Great work! Looks so organized! I always despise where to start and if it’ll ever get finished but it always comes together in the end! Can’t wait for more videos!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Great inspirational video. I have to help arrange my parents garage pretty soon. I have two of the Husky totes and they’re very helpful. You can even lock them up if you wanted. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my gosh Serena you worked your buns off girl! There's SO many things I love,....probably my favorite is what a difference the new lighting did! What is the "work bench" called, it was 2 separate tables that I believe locked together? So neat. Loved the idea of wheels on the big tote. I could go on and on. You really are an inspiration. I thank you so much! 😘

Wow, thank you! The lighting was a huge difference! It was a 6 pack of lights so I'll finish putting all of those up and will show you in a separate video. It will be so bright in there I may need sunglasses. 😂 I loved the rolling tote too! It helped easily move some of the workbench stuff. I'm so glad you like it!!

Oh, the workbench that joins together is my Kreg. It's called their mobile workbench! I should do a separate video on that!

@@ThriftDiving what do you normally use your Kreg work bench for? I just got back from Home Depot and I could not find it.

Thank you, Nancy! I'm quite pleased with it and I can't wait to keep working on it this week, if time permits. I have some basement projects I need to tackle this week now!

I don't have a garage but do have a basement and it looks just like your garage. I was thinking about all the junk I have and how I've been putting off sorting and cleaning out everything but you convinced me it's possible to get it done. 🙂 I don't have as many tools of my own but I have most of my father's tools and even a 2-man saw my grandfather used to clear land so he could farm it... about 90 years ago! Also a lot of duplicate odds and ends, nails, etc. Ok, I've almost talked myself out of doing it! 😕🤣

I’m a bit jealous of your clean work space. Good job!

It feels AH-MAZING out there in the garage now! I am promising to keep this clean, for sure. The challenge is to slow down at the end of a project and "close it out" properly by putting all the tools away BEFORE I sit down to edit the video for it!

OMG, Brenda! That is the most wonderful thing to hear!! I can just imagine how tough it must be to deal with anxiety. And to know that my videos make things a little easier, well...I think I may have to print out your comment and hang it on my computer to remind myself that there are people I am helping, one project at a time. :) Much love to you!

I decided months ago to put all of our batteries and paints and such on an old shelf in our sub basement access area (it’s like a non usable closet-it’s weird). I hate them being in my house but it’s better for them then being in the cold
