..and to repair properly by drilling out the old hole and placing new plug. And when cutting, do not pull knife toward your exposed arm. Also, using spray shellac on darker wood prior to painting will prevent bleed through. I used that same fabric to make pillows for our deck. Very cheery. Otherwise, great video.

I loved this video. Small, starter project. You did such a good job of thoroughly explaining every step, such as notching the center of the fabric, or to pull fabric toward the corners, or even showing that the tacks didn't fit back into in the new corners so you used a longer screw. All those tips help beginners, or even not total beginners to succeed. Thank you so much.

I've been binge watching your videos. Such good work and simply enjoyable. This is where I say to self " enough ! I sew all my projects and have only done pillows and cushions for customers over the years, now why have I loved watching you tonight you ask. Well because 6 years ago I bought a lovely tall end table that is made my Simply Shabby Chic at a resale shop to hold my landline phone, a book, tissues a drafting tablet etc, oh and of course my coffee cup next to my favorite chair. My issue is that I have to use a cover ( a mug rug) over a very distastefully done decoupage rose that is trimmed with possibly Tulip Paint. How can I gently remove this unsightly mark on a very darling table? or can I with no experience in wood also I have no specialty tools. TIA for anything you can tell me. Oh I am not adverse to sending this to a professional if that is what I need to do. I can E-mail the pic if you like.

Very cute. If you want a thicker cushion, would you have another layer (or two or three layers) cut to the size of the wood and tightly placed under the larger piece you are stapling to the wood?
@ThriftDiving3 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's what I would do. There is foam you can get from the craft store that can be cut to size, and would sit on top, with spray adhesive to keep it in place, then fabric pulled tight over it.

Hi Serena, I love your videos, I aspire to be so handy. On that note may you offer any information on how to refurbish a old trunk? It needs a lot of work from cleaning to painting/staining the entire exterior and rebuilding the inside. I would like to put it on a rolling base as well and use it as a coffee table. Any info or references you can offer would be great. I can pay someone a few hundred dollars to do this but it’s something I would really like to do myself.

Great video! Love the little foot stool, I’m sure your mom’s gonna love it too 👍🏼. Now I have a question and I hope you can help, I’ve been looking at all your videos that you’ve been working with wood but none of them have given me an answer to the question I’m about to ask. I bought this new dresser at a furniture store now the inside of the drawers have splinters yes splinters I know it’s weird 🤷🏼, anyways when I talk to the furniture store they said that’s the way the manufacture made it. So I try sanding it but the splinters don’t seem to go away. So what do you recommend I do? I don’t want to mess it up 🤦🏼 being that it’s a brand new dresser. So being that you know about furniture I thought I would contact you so you can give me some kind of advice. Hope to hear from you soon 🙏🏼. Thank you in advance 👍🏼

I have a similar project! Great video. I have a question... Any advice for using vintage material? Not necessarily reusing the same material, but wanting to use an older fabric on my project. Thoughts? Tips? Thanks in advance. :)
@ThriftDiving3 жыл бұрын
Sure! I think the main thing is to make sure that the fabric is suitable for what you're using it for, for example, not using silk to reupholster a stool or something silly like that. :) Other than that, I can't think of anything specific related to using vintage fabrics. Oh--and making sure the vintage fabric isn't so old or fragile (due to age) that it easily tears or frays!
